Our hip kitties love the American number one "This Is America" by Childish Gambino but they get a bit confused about some of the lyrics, they think it's "This is Meowica" (apart from Marijke who thinks it's "This is aMarijke")!

Wow! Amazing place. Love the fact that cats can come up to you or you can go to them. There are certain rules to follow for the well being of the cats, which is brilliant. There are many cat volunteers, that are around watching the cats and us humans making sure that either is not distressed. Cats have plenty of room to get away, they can go their beds, (No visitors) to rest. Climbing frames for cats around the cafe, up the walls and across the ceiling.

Food is in special containers So that we can put lids on the food if a cat comes close.

The cake( Dorset Apple Cake) I had was amazing. It was not too sweet.

Light and moist.

I love Pause cafe, and all the cats. It's certainly worth a visit. It's different to an ordinary cafe because of the cats and volunteers need to be around watching.

If you love cats. Visit. Book online.

You won't regret it.

Went here for lunch today with my mum. Was a lovely experience and the staff and volunteers were very helpful and informative. It is lovely to see that the cats welfare is their main priority - which is should be!

I would say, we had Michelle (white kitty) try and steal our cheese off our plates, which we found highly amusing! She was a feral cat so you can’t blame her. But if this isn’t for you then maybe don’t order cheese lol!

Also, I’d like to say it was lovely of the staff to move us upstairs as it was so quiet downstairs with not many cats down there. We really appreciated that.

Another point, was that it was very cold in there today. We left earlier than we’d have liked as it was so cold. Admittedly it was a cold day today but having it a bit warmer would have made it easier to relax with a coffee.

This however would not put me off coming again, the set up is fantastic and I love that these lovely kitty’s have a great home and are being so well looked after. Well done Pause! Great place to go, and see you again soon.

We were lucky enough to happen across the cat cafe whilst out walking in the evening, so we decided to visit the following day. It was lovely and having only heard about ones in London, I was pleasantly surprised to see they allowed children to visit too. We phoned ahead to check we could bring all three of our children and they were most accommodating. We popped in for a snack, the theory being that it would be a quicker visit with the children rather than having lunch and risking them getting restless and arguing and thus upsetting the cats! We had nachos and some Dorset apple cake- both were utterly delicious!!! It really is a must-visit for any cat lover and we look forward to visiting again when next in the area!

The little cat that's been coming to see me for cuddles for the last 5 years has moved to Spain with her owners. Broke my heart, so decided to spend an hour at Pause cat cafe! The staff are lovely and of course the cats are amazing! I had the nachos and latte to drink, very tasty and easily the best nachos I've ever had! The time I spent there was lovely and helped me as I'm missing having the company of a cat.

User

Thank you so much for a wonderful afternoon! This place truly is a gem and its evident just how much thought has gone into creating a fun and relaxing environment both for the cats and the customers. The staff are all really friendly and helpful and it's clear that they really care about the animals. I can't wait to return!

User

Thank you so much for a purrfect day out at the cafe as part of a treat for my Birthday! I loved every minute of it! It was truly pawsome! The cats are clearly well looked after and loved by the people who work there. Keep up the great work you’re doing! Would highly recommend anyone going to this amazing place if you love cats!

User

Superb place, fabulous concept. It is heartwarming to see how these gorgeous cats are so well looked after. Some with not so great a start in life bless them. They all have their own special characteristics. Great idea and of course great food, staff and ethics x well done keep up the good work you do.

User

Relaxing, interesting, lovely staff, cheeky, entertaining cats... Keep an eye on your foodthe food is served in plastic boxes with lids to protect your food from the cats..but some cats are VERY quick, you can be 'mugged ' before you get your lid back on . Limited menu.. But enjoyable, great mug of tea... Worth a trip for any cat lovers can park & pay in street nearby.

User

Really enjoyed our visit on Saturday. I am a big animal lover and we were in Bournemouth for the weekend and happened to walk past the cafe and we couldn't resist a visit.

The staff were really friendly and know everything about all of the cats and were very helpful and friendly.

It costs £5 per person for an hour which is really reasonable and the money goes towards looking after the cats. The drinks were really amazing and at a reasonable price too.

It was nice to just relax in a lovely atmosphere and to wander around and meet and play with all the cats.

We have been raving about this place to our friends and family about how amazing this place is.

We will definitely come and visit again.

I visited for the first time on Monday and am definitely interested in visiting again. I've wanted to come for a while but never got around to until now, but it was definitely worth the wait. I was a little worried about visiting a vegan establishment , even though I desperately wanted to see the cats, because it's not something I've ever done before and I knew my mum, visiting with me, might have difficulty finding food she'd like. However, she really loved the vegetable soup and I enjoyed my cheese sandwich. We were especially impressed by the boxes the food comes in and did have to use the lids when one of the little black cats came scavenging! I didn't find the staff/volunteers intrusive at all. The cats were all adorable. I don't think I met them all but I definitely saw more than half during my visit, which was much appreciated.

User

Had a lovely afternoon with you all. The cats are so well cared for. The staff were friendly and helpful. The food was very nice. Hand sanitizer was placed on each table. So if your like me, and can't resist stroking the cats. Well you can clean your hands at any point.

Will be bringing my grandaughter with me next time I visit. Thankyou guys.

As a young man you might not think of me as an animal lover but I have been all my life. It started early on at the age of 2 while watching a Sir David Attenborough series from there it progresses to owning a family pet, a dog; a golden lab named Jessica. So many years later when I moved to Bournemouth and found out that there was a animal themed café opening up in my home town I was stoked...A few months later while watching its construction I discovered that it was to be a cat café, I'd heard of these; the concept being imported from Japan, only a small number exist in England, London being one of them. I'd heard of dog themed ones too but they're even rarer. After it's opening I decided to try it out for myself not knowing what to expect, and to my deep pleasure and surprise fell inlove... The decor is straight from Japan, the atmosphere is very calm and pleasant, the music is pleasant and unique, no out of place material like r&b or dance or pop it's entirely unheard of by most standards. The food is delicious but it's healthy vegan/vegetarian, no meat.

But by far what I fell inlove with is the cats and the staff, the staff are friendly, easy going and patient. But honestly what I love most is what the owner has done, all the cats are rescues not from breeders, some were feral others from homes that couldn't care for them and a portion of what's spent goes to the care of the cats... As for the cat care, they're looked after by cat care volunteers who do all the feeding, cleaning and health checks of the cats. But it's the hard work and novel idea of the owner I'm most grateful to for doing what she does in caring for rescues and the charities she supports

Thank you JDc

User

An amazing experience and a new meaning to pouch time the cats are very happy and so are the volunteers. Flapjack was massive enough for twoits the chance to experience a cat cafe in the uk, and afterwards why not see the sea and some squirrels as you walk through the parkx

User

An absolute must for any cat lover or anyone that just wants a beautiful relaxed cafe to sit and have a drink. I wish i had booked longer. The staff are amazing and only out shined by the real stars of the place our little furry friends.

User

After hearing a lot about this extraordinary place, I wanted to see it through my own eyes. I was warmly welcomed as I arrived by the gentle, yet very attentive team. The ambience was quite unique and truly must be experienced to be properly appreciated. As a complete bonus to being surrounded by these delightful furry creatures, the food was sublime - can recommend the divine falafel wrap and carrot cake. Shall be visiting again, soon!

User

A really lovely relaxing afternoon yesterday for my son’s birthday treat. Friendly attentive staff, so nice to talk to and very gorgeous cats, in very pleasant comfortable surroundings. Our food was delicious (and my gluten free needs were catered for), Apple cake and chocolate brownie, plus a huge mug of tea and delicious cappuccino.

User

We love the idea behind it, the cats are beautiful! The cake was yummy!

I really do think the staff need to work on a few things; 1- not standing over / watching you, I have to say that it was very uncomfortable & felt intense , 2- I do feel the cats are monitored very closely, it’s there home! I love cats & would never do anything to upset one & would like to think other visitors feel the same, understand there welfare is paramount but still I think staff need to chill out abit! I went to have coffee, cake and chill with the cats, not to have a person standing over me watching!

User

Lovely food and very nicely done, but felt as though we were being watched by staff so we couldnt relax and a few of the cats seemed pretty stressed as staff members bothering them too much. Cats are independent creatures and felt as though they weren't being treated this way. Volunteers were being a little too forceful with cats when they tried to steal our food resulting in cat becoming angry and stressed, clawing hissing etc. I personally don't think its the correct environment for cats as they need their quiet space and a garden so they can feel safe/independent

User

It’s a lovely place and I would have given it more stars if it hadn’t been for 2 of the volunteers. We had a child aged 9 (very polite and respectful where ever we take her to eat) and it felt like we were being watched the whole time. I understand this may be necessary for the benefit of the cats but we didn’t expect her to virtually push me out of the way while I was eating to get to the cat on the table who was watching us eat. I understood from the rules you have to be careful but we were managing much better than the table behind us who were screeching about the same cat who was table hopping. They received no ‘assistance’ where as the girl kept leaning over me almost pushing me into my food (which was the wrong order but had taken so long I ate it anyway). I think the experience was wonderful for my daughter, my husband felt quite relaxed but we couldn’t have a conversation because of the girl stood inches from my left shoulder! Also after I had paid and we were leaving a different volunteer/staff member decided we hadn’t paid and was hollering after me about my bill. I am glad the young lad (volunteer) intervened to say I had paid before I went back to say something because I found the whole incident very embarrassing! Lovely place. Wonderful cats. A little privacy while eating would be nice!
