We were lucky enough to get a table for 5 in the restaurant on a busy Saturday evening. The 2 young waitresses were excellent! They were enthusiastic, polite and friendly. The food was good and served quickly. Definitely 5/5.

User

Really nice pub, nice atmosphere, friendly staff, food is good. What more can you ask for? ļæ½

User

Had a lovely meal. It was prepared and on the table in double quick time even though they were really busy. Young chap who served us really needed a little more knowledge re: Pie of the day and whether the fish in fish 'n' chips was cod or another fish.

Food was delicious, as was dessert. Lovely experience altogether. Will definitely go back again.

User

An amazing place, good food, excellent service from the staff which made a lovely day out for me and my family.

User

Over all a pretty good meal, 20 of us well organised (we had all pre-ordered). One or two had a few complaints, thereā€™s always one....or two! However my husband and I had no problems with our meals.

Only real complaint was the barman who was perhaps lacking experience and training? I had asked for a lager and lime which he said he could do but without the lime as they had run out of lime cordial!!! ļæ½ I decided to go for something completely different and asked for a rum and coke, without another word he poured me a Bacardi and coke. I donā€™t mind Bacardi and just went with it to avoid further complication. I had expected dark or spiced rum, whichever they had would have been acceptable.

We would eat there again.

User

My hubby n myself and my Sister enjoyed the meal.We haven't book and the lady was friendly and gave us a table. We ordered our drinks and it came within 10minutes.Its quite busy too.Ordered our meals and we didn't wait too long either. The staff quite friendly and asked us if everything's Ok ļæ½..Thereafter ordered our puddings. My Sister n I ordered same puddings Coffee Panacotta it was really nice but it's not much of it.But still overall we enjoyed our meal.We going back again.

User

Arrived and shown to our table straight away. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. Ordered the Sunday roast beef which was very nice. Pudding was also very nice. Would definitely recommend. All in all a very good experience.

User

What a shame, used to be lovely but todayā€™s meal was disappointing. Arrived at 1pm for lunch and already lots of items on menu not available including Sunday roast. I could totally understand turning up at 8pm on a Sunday and not having one of the meats but to have run out by 1pm is pretty useless. No cauliflower cheese or kids tomato pasta either. Both pretty basic dishes! Wonā€™t be returning sadly.

User

They seem to have had a management change recently. I canā€™t really see much difference apart from the menu presentation. Staff arenā€™t particularly on the ball or very friendly, welcoming or approachable and tables arenā€™t wiped down. Food could do with a closer look at final presentation. My scampi and chips came with a part of lemon that looked over a week old and had parts of it cut away, which must have been unfit for consumption. Letā€™s hope things will improve in the long run with it being so close to home and very convenient to frequent as a local. On a positive note, the real ale is great.

User

First time visiting & " it was ok "

8 people 1 child, 2pm.

Ordered Sunday roast only to be informed that there was only 3 left, ordered 3 only to be informed in fact there was only 2.

We had the 2 & they looked great but the meat was slightly tough & cold.

The other meals seemed ( ok ) & the pudding choice was limited with again items that they had run out of.

Disappointed somewhat but may give it another go.

User

Been coming here for awhile and wish the old ā€œpub grubā€ menu remained. Booked a table and turned up only to find everything had changed and the menu is now very limited.

Probably wonā€™t come back again now itā€™s gone away from what made it such a good place to begin with. Shame as the menu previously was great with plenty of choice and full of popular favourites. Canā€™t fault the staff they are always very welcoming and are sociable and it was this and the previous menu which made it such a nice place to come.

User

The entrance to the restaurant is like driving into a building site, thought I was going in the wrong way in.

We had a table for 8 people at 6.30pm.

Restaurant was not busy at that time, then within 30 mins itā€™s was packed.

The waiter got most of our drinks wrong and the food was slow.

Food was good, service was poor, would not rush back in a hurry.

And the door to pub garden was open the whole time and all I could smell was smoke in the restaurant.

Not great with kids.

User

Popped in one lunchtime, the place was practically empty. Asked the waitress for a table for 4, she took us to the materadee who made us feel awkward that we hadn't booked. However they did manage to squeeze us in within the many free spaces available.

Ordered our drinks, long wait to get them. Even longer wait to order & an even longer wait for the food to actually arrive which was stone cold. Barely an apology for this.

The staff were not overly friendly towards us but spent a long time chatting between themselves which probably explains the cold food.

The barman & bar manager were the only people who made us feel at all welcome.

All in all, not the greatest experience & a real shame that although it's so nearby we won't bother to go again, unless it's just for a drink.

User

Not great in a nutshell! Really disappointed with the food, long wait although very quiet. We ordered 7 meals, anything with chicken was really dry....average meal cost was Ā£11 and really seemed to be a very small portion. Ā£10.99 for ham, egg and chips was laughable when there was literally Ā£1 of food on the plate!

Visited a year ago and had no issues but really was shocked with the dramatic change in standards...

We stopped off on the way home for a burger!

User

2nd visit in as many weeks. Ambience outside excellent, food disappointing on 2nd visit, first choice beef roast run out at 3.00pm. 2nd choice lamb was nice, but a very long wait to be told no roast potatoes left, never mind had new potatoes instead. They were nice but over cooked. The vegetables were grossly over cooked and cold as was the greasy Yorkshire pud. So first trip 4/5 second 2/5. Drinks expensive but then I'm old and compare to the old days.

User

Went yesterday the food was cold! And the childrenā€™s menu not great

User

Visited today as a group of 8 (6 adults, 2 children).

Crammed into a small area of the restaurant, which is tight when there are two large groups sitting together.

The nearest toilets were dirty and we had to go to the other side of the restaurant to find cleaner ones.

One meal didn't turn up with the rest of the tables food, despite the waiter asking what sides were preferred with the dish. He didn't even release the mistake, it had to be reordered by another waitress. Meal turned up with an apology with "it happens sometimes".

Sauces were offered but had to be requested twice, when they turned up 1 child (age3) got two portions of sauce yet 2 adults have to share 1. No effort to correct from the waiter.

Kids meal is overwhelming for children, it's an adults portion, adult cutlery and inappropriate plates where by the kids find it difficult to eat from with the curved sides and having high table & low seating to contend with.

Roast dinner was served cold. Meat platter served on an uneven board with no room to cut etc or extra plate offered to eat from.

Food is fine if you expect a bland not as described meat platter, oily fish, chips, bland burger and cold roast dinner.

We will not be returning again.

User

Visited on Sunday with family. Service was extremely slow! Had to wait ages for someone to come and take our drinks order, by this time we were ready to order the food. The waiter had to come back as we'd ordered 2 kids pasta meals and were told they'd run out! So had to order something else for them. Food took ages to arrive, the kids meals were brought out last!! Food wasn't good at all! Won't be going back!

User

Vile place, rude arsey manager and crap food!!! Chef needs to learn how to cook a steak. Best part of the food were the cherry tomatoes in the salad!!!
