Peacocks Tearoom And Fine B&B Description
A warm welcome in 2012 to old friends and new customers. The Jubilee celebrations are approaching fast and we will be getting into the festive mood. We will be staying open for both the Monday and Tuesday Bank Holidays, so we shall be open a full 12 days from Wednesday 30th May to Sunday 10th June. Our holiday menu will include a special Jubilee Afternoon Tea featuring treats including gooseberry fool, lavender scones, cherry scones and rose-petal jam. There will also be a 1952 menu with Pea & ham soup, Coronation chicken and Red, white and blue cheesecake, and we'll have bunting and bubbly and more to celebrate the 60 years since the Queen's accession to the throne or George's birth, depending on your priorities
For those who haven't found us yet, Peacocks offers all you would expect from a prize -winning, family-run English tearoom, and more: traditional cream teas, a homely atmosphere, delicious home-made lunches, a quirky menu, fabulous chocolate zucchini cake, welcoming staff, friendly customers, and the widest choice of teas in the world - we don't know of anyone else anywhere who can offer you teas from every continent.
We are lucky enough to have a lovely garden in a beautiful setting - overlooking the River Great Ouse in the market town of Ely with its stunning Cathedral. Ely is close to Cambridge and only an hour from London by train.
We are proud that the Tea Guild, in their annual awards in April 2011, again gave us an Award of Excellence, and that last year The Times newspaper named us in their top 5 places to have tea. Country Living magazine also listed us their favourite tearoom, so we have a lot to live up to. We keep looking for ways to improve.
If you have never been, let's hope you have the opportunity soon. We look forward to seeing old and new friends.
George and Rachel Peacock

How about a walk by the river in the sunshine on this beautiful Boxing Day followed by a visit to Peacocks Tearoom.
Whiled away a lovely time here today, catching up with a friend.First time I've been, and I've only lived in The Fairest Elysian Isle for nearly 8 years! Highly recommended. The fruit scone with jam and naughty cream was delightful. Shall be back.....
We just loved the whole experience and grapefruit earl grey was delicious
We had the full afternoon tea, and it was delicious! The service was great, ambiance charming, but for me the highlight was the full page of teas to choose from. It was a wonderful birthday treat!
Visited last June. As a "GUY' I wasn't sure I would enjoy the "English Tea" experience. I was with my wife and daughter, so....Had an excellent time, an outstanding pot of Earl Grey, and a great sandwich. Thank you for the wonderful experience. My wife and I will be back...Well Done!
Visited here yesterday as a treat for myself & my Niece. The place was so quaint & very welcoming. The staff were extremely attentive & we weren't rushed at all, even though they had a huge queue nearly reaching out the door into the garden. The garden was a lovely welcoming place to sit & enjoy whatever you decide to choose from the menu. A massive plus is dogs are also welcome which you don't tend to get much of these days. We ordered a pot of coffee served in beautiful China cups. Also we ordered carrot cake, this was to die for, so moist & delicious yummy! Will definitely be returning. Thanks for a lovely afternoon.
Very good lunch. Service very good too. Birthday treat for our daughter and she loved it too.
This place is very special and one of the places to stop and enjoy a really good cuppa; the food is wonderful too.
This is by far our favorite place in Ely, and our favorite tea house ever. We go at least once a month and every time it is amazing. The staff are so friendly, the tearoom and outside areas are beautiful, and the food/tea is the best! I always recommend this place to all of my friends
This is a really delightful tearoom in the beautiful city of Ely.Great location, very welcoming and gorgeous tea, cakes, scones etc and served in lovely China cups.Have only had afternoon tea so far but sure lunch would be great.
The best scones and black currant jam I've ever had! Great location, service, attention to detail and staff keep me coming back time and again. The fact that my little dog can come with me and even gets served doggie biscuits on a little China plate also make it the perfect place to finish a dog walk...... Try the fig chutney!
Lovely quaint tea rooms right next to the river. Always lovely welcoming staff, very friendly. Lovely decor throughout, real attention to detail, can understand why it is so popular! NEVER take the banana, bacon, maple syrup toastie off the menu please....it is Soooo yummy! I have it every time we go! Must look at the rest of the menu sometime! The cakes are amazing!
Lovely little tearoom amazing food and drinks, yummy cakes, welcoming and friendly staff and lovely, cute vintage china! This is my favourite place and i always bring my family and friends here when they come up to visit!!
Impeccable service, great tea, and delicious sandwiches and scones.
I don't ever leave reviews but this place is just so gorgeous! It's got a real welcoming and cosy atmosphere and the food was absolutely delicious- and decent portions too. We will be back again soon, thank you x
Finally visited here today after trying many times before but always so busy. And now I can see why, such a wonderful place, tea was the best I've ever had, the service was fantastic, a real little gem this place. Will be back many times more!!
Excellent tearoom with a lot on the menu. Quiche is very good. The Full Monty tea special is a little pricey at 18 GBP for the amount you get. I've had the quiche in the past; comes with a nice-size salad & what looked like potato salad, also. All for 10.50 GBP.
Be prepared to queue. Totally worth it though! Courgette and chocolate cake was to die for.
An amazing find by pure accident, all the popular B&B's were all booked up I rang and they said they had the cottage available. The price was slightly higher than expected but having somewhere to sleep was important. The customer service was excellent and the attention to detail in the rooms was amazing, there was even a hot-water bottle in one of the drawers, fortunately it was not needed.
If I'am in Ely I will certainly visit their tea rooms and even stay there again.
Amazing friendly service, wonderful selection, sat outside in the sun - thoroughly enjoying coffee & cake - what more can a girl ask for- truly scrumptious.
