Dear Pear Tree, Thank you once again for a wonderfully magical sleepover. We enjoyed our cosy afternoon by the fire, crunching homemade crackling and sipping on sevilla orange gin! Our dinner was lovely, the steak and ale pie was the best! Tosca was warm, beautifully decorated and clean, the accessories and attention to detail are always of a very high standard. The shortbread biscuits were divine! Breakfast was superb, a fabulous selection of fruit, cereals, and cooked food were offered. Thank you to the staff for a warm, welcoming stay. We will return! We went for our 30th Wedding Anniversary and really enjoyed it. The staff were great, food was excellent and room was lovely. The decoration of dining room, bedroom and outside patio areas is all very stylish. We loved it.

We have just returned home from Pear Tree. We had three lovely days. From our arrival to our departure we were indulgedcwith wonderful hospitality....(Wendy is outstanding lovely lady) great food breakfast was a banquet beautifully presented and always piping hot poached eggs are the best. Attention to detail in our room was lovely. There is a Pear theme running throughout the Inn. Sumptuous soft towels our room was cosy comfortable and tastefully decorated with a good quality shower over the bath with unlimited hot water. Great complimentary toiletries too. It’s a must to experience pre supper drink bar staff certainly know how to prep and serve G&Ts wonderful wine with interesting history of the vineyard. Thank you Pear Tree staff for making our stay awesome

We had the loveliest of nights for my husband's birthday. Everything was perfect - Emily our wonderful waitress was fabulous as was the food - thank you can't rave about you highly enough very lucky to have you on our doorstep- top notch 👏❤️💕

We came by for breakfast ��� and the staff were warm, friendly and welcoming! The breakfast menu has a wide variety for you to choose from! I had poached eggs with avacado and it was cooked to perfection and presented really well! � didn't wait long for the food either. The pub itself is beautifully decorated and feels rustic but clean and modern at the same time. Would 100% come back, will be recommending to everyone we know! �

Thank you to waitress Wendy and all the staff. It my birthday today and Wendy made me feel so special. The food was outstanding generous portion size, I certainly will be return so happy it’s on the doorstep too. Once again thank you to you all. X

Such a lovely, LOVELY place. Wife, daughter & me came down for a wedding, so could only enjoy it for a couple days. BUT, the team there made sure those couple days were perfect. They were happy to deal with all our (& our 2 year olds) needs. Made sure we could get cabs there & back, made sure we had everything we needed and jus ensured that it was all very nice for us.



The place is idyllic, so serene and wonderfully presented inside. Food was lovely - especially the eggy bread!



If you don't like inns that are warm & welcoming, super friendly and beautifully set maybe this isn't for u. Otherwise, go there. Right now.

One of the best meals I have ever had. All perfect. Great service. Lovely atmosphere. Cannot recommend highly enough.

I like to think I am someone who can give a review of eating establishments near and far, and am willing to pass on my experiences to any that consider the place and ask. I was very fortunate to be directed in the same way to a fine eatery in the UK just recently. Amid all the lures of fine foods in the south west of England sits a place that offers the peace and tranquility of the countryside and well prepared food from local, rustic farms. This blended with the 17th century farmhouse setting meant it was real treat for my wife and I on a visit from the USA.



The Pear Tree Inn at Whitley



The weather in the UK had provided somewhat of a snow day for the locals, however the staff had arrived to give the same service as always. Sunday lunch providing an opportunity to bring together some of the family from both sides of the Atlantic, meant we could experience the restaurant in full swing and enjoy our lunch with all ages of attendees.



The first thing you notice is the staff are both very friendly and informed, the waitresses moving quickly through the dining rooms ensuring diners best service.

Then there is the food, the menu is well presented and simple, a vast passage from restaurants with 300 choices and nowhere to really know what you want to eat.



Using only the best of seasonal produce, the chef has created a menu you can both appreciate and get down to the nitty gritty of making your choice. Our repast was produced quickly and was well worthy of the menu's descriptions.



They do not leave you wanting for more.



During our stay we have managed to dine 3 times, covering all 3 meals and each time it has been a treat. We also stayed in one of their signature rooms, which was excellent. The staff, led by Jackie and Adrian adopt a family, friendly approach which shows in their enthusiasm. As a professional people watcher I managed to see that the staff must be hand selected and happy in their employ as they all appear such self starters.



This is a great job completed by a knowledgeable and experienced team.

Four of us have just enjoyed the spectacular Pear Tree Breakfast, sat in front of one of the lovely woodburning stoves. Wonderful fresh local produce, cooked to perfection and served with more smiles than the weather deserved. What an absolute pleasure on a wet Bank Holiday. Thank you.

Fabulous place. We saw it recommended in an old Sawday's book but I checked up current reviews to confirm. It did not disappoint. We stayed in one of the garden rooms for two nights and ate at the restaurant both evenings although the first night we just had a light main course only after having a large lunch elsewhere. The food is fresh, clean, seasonal and absolutely delicious. The wine list is reasonably priced. Breakfast was a lovely affair with an extensive choice of cooked dishes using local, free range produce. The Pear Tree has lovely grounds too and we were lucky enough to have good weather on Saturday afternoon to sit there with some of their local beer and cider. I'm sure that the garden is used for the produce used in the kitchen.



The room was very comfortable with a glam double shower/wet room but if I have to find anything to criticise it would be the switch for the extractor fan was situated above the door frame into the bathroom. We didn't find it until we were about to leave and I wouldn't have been able to reach it.



We will definitely visit again.

As a vegetarian, I was skeptical about the menu but I am blown away by the choice and quality of the food. After a great evening meal, fabulous sleep in a really comfortable room, we were greeted in the restaurant by a friendly face, the owner of which served a scrumptious breakfast. We're set up for the day now and then we'll do it all over again before returning home tomorrow. This will be a weekend to remember and I definitely can't wait to come back.

Another fabulous long weekend spent chilling @ the pear tree. Starting with a very funny comedy evening on the Thursday night. Excellent food, with puds to die for & accommodation as usual. Fabulous & friendly staff. Hopefully c u all very soon

An amazing place to stay, beautiful individually designed, spacious rooms with comfortable beds, good sized Bathrooms, with quality toiletries. Excellent service from all the Staff. Breakfast is included, and is very good, with locally sourced ingredients. We eat in the Restaurant, and the food is exceptional and interesting. A good range of Cask Ales on the Bar, together with a small selection of Craft Beer too. The grounds are superb and we'll looked after. Highly recommended.

Amazing staff, decor very much like The Pig in Bath, with their vegetable garden and locally sourced produce. The menu was top notch homemade pub grub with finesse, good choice of meat and fish, making it a super gastro pub. We'll be making this our 'local'

After a recommendation from a friend, we tried the Pear Tree for breakfast this morning. A fantastic full English!

It's definitely somewhere we would go back to! Really lovely place, very friendly and helpful staff - and a bonus that they allow dogs (and provide a doggie treat or 2!) would definitely recommend it �

Absolutely fantastic, such a gem of a place. Staff are welcoming and friendly, food is amazing and definitely worth every penny. Stayed here for 3 nights and will be back! Rooms are individually decorated, and they have thought of everything - the fresh milk, the tea and coffee options, the comfy and cosy bed with blankets, the bathroom and its toiletries - just great!
