Earlier today, the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health published new guidance on screen-time. The guidance suggests parents should build screen-time around family activities rather than the other way around. It also asks parents to think about their own usage of tech & whether they are using it for a purpose or unconsciously using it all of the time.
The report specifically mentions that "For younger children, face-to-face social interaction is vital to the development of language and other skills. Screen-based interaction is not an effective substitute for this".
If you'd like to read the report then please follow this link: https://www.rcpch.ac.uk/ā€¦/rcpch_screen_ time_guide_-_final.pā€¦ .
