Cooking, researching and reading about food, restaurants, hotels and bars has been a lifelong hobby.
After early work in bars and some waitressing I started my career working as a retail manager at Harrods. This was a natural step as someone who has always been passionate about the customer experience. It was a great foundation in how to run a business based on creating the very best in Customer service. In my later career in HR including as Director of a large consumer business, my role was to ensure we had the right teams in place with the right tools and leadership to provide the highest standards of customer care. After all this is central to the success of any business. This perspective and focus on the customer remains a central thread in all that I do.
As a result, I have extremely high standards and attention to detail. Through my work and hobby, I have been lucky enough to stay and dine in some of the best venues in the world. I admire those venues that know how to create a memorable experience and make the customer feel valued and I understand how to recruit, train and motivate staff to do so. With the right formula its within the reach of most establishments and yet so many seem to neglect this aspect. Of course front of house is only one part of the puzzle. Food, drink, ambience and environment all combine to create a memorable experience. Obviously these can vary in style from fine dining to street food – regardless, attention to detail and a focus on the customer should remain ever present.
Here at PeoplePlacesFood, we will bring you independent unbiased reviews of what’s on offer here in Sussex but also elsewhere. Unlike other local on-line dining guides, we don’t take money for featuring venues. I will also provide links to other good on-line resources so that this becomes a bit of a one stop shop for all you passionate foodies out there and I know there are many!
