About Perennial - Gardeners' Royal Benevolent Society

Perennial is the national charity for those who work or have worked in horticulture, providing help, advice and support for anyone experiencing need or difficulties, whatever their age or horticultural trade.

Perennial - Gardeners' Royal Benevolent Society Description

Established in 1839, The Gardeners’ Royal Benevolent Fund or Perennial as it is now known, helps everyone working in and retired from horticulture, including landscapers, gardeners, garden designers, green keepers, tree surgeons, groundsmen, seed and turf growers, those involved in intensive production horticulture, parks and gardens staff and many more, and their families during times of crisis. The charity provides a range of support to people experiencing hardship whether that is through debt, illness, disability or old age.

Perennial relies on the generosity of the horticulture trade and the garden-loving public to continue to support horticulturists in need. To find out more about the work of Perennial and ways to get involved with fundraising during 2014, please visit www. perennial.org. uk, email info@perennial.org. uk or call one of the team on 0800 093 8510.

This September William Innes-Taylor is aiming to complete the #ThreePeaksChallenge in under 24 hours for Perennial, a charity close to his heart. He's training hard and has so far raised £760 - can you help him reach his target of £1,000?

More from our #FestivalDinner archives - a letter to the Editor of the Standard dated 15 July 1891 re: wages of gardeners. This gentleman earned 24 shillings a week, worth about £18k a year in today's money & on this had to support his wife & five children. https://perennial.org.uk/events/festival- dinner-2018/

We've been going back through our archives looking at the fascinating history of Perennial's Festival Dinner. Take a look at this announcement of the 45th Anniversary Festival in 1888.
