All our classes use kind, positive reward based techniques.

Pershore and Evesham Puppy school had a fantastic day yesterday with Sarah Fisher and Chirag Patel at Puppy Power which was hosted by Nosey Barker in Harlow.
We learnt about new ways of thinking about puppies needs and how we can change our puppy classes to be less stressful, and also think about puppy socialisation differently.
I absolutely loved watching these 2 amazing trainers allow the puppies to explore an enriched area (via free ground work).
... Often as trainers we are concerned about getting through a particular course content, but by taking a slightly different approach and by going slowly at the puppies pace allows the puppy to gain more confidence. Sarah Fisher introduced the concept of Free ground work for puppies, which not only gives the puppies confidence on and around novel surfaces, smells and textures, but it can improve their gait and flexibility, In addition it has been suggested that it can also help them to settle and learn about self calm.
It was a a very interesting day and I can't wait to learn more.

Pershore and Evesham Puppy School has had a very busy weekend.
We went away this weekend with our Fellow Puppy School tutors and assistants at #PuppySchool conference in the Forest of Dean.
We are very lucky to be part of the amazing Puppy School family run by Gwen Bailey and her awesome team.
... We had a brilliant weekend, and had some amazing speakers, including: - * Rob Hewings - UK College of Scent Detection https://www.ukcsd.com/ * Kay Lawrence - www.learningaboutdogs.com * Kay Attwood - www.kay9services.co.uk * Mike Simmons - www.aworldofwings.com
We got the chance to do some amazing practicals with the speakers, which helped to push our knowledge and skills further with our dog training, and all of course using positive reward based training.
Myself and Alfred have learnt so much, and Alfred was as usual a super star and was very tired by the end.
Here's some photo's from our amazing weekend!

With Next week potentially seeing temperatures in the late 20's please take care with your pets.
Remember if you can't put the back of your hand on the pavement for 5 seconds it's too hot for their pads. Always ensure they have access to water, shade and limit the amount of excessive exercise in the heat of the day.
Remember heat stroke is a killer!
... Here's a little reminder of when it's too hot for your dog (borrowed from Petplan).

We had a great day yesterday at Wyre Piddle Village Fete, the 3rd year for us, and we did another mini free dog show, with the "Gorgeous Gals", "Dashing Dudes" and the "Best Movers". It was a very hot day but thankfully cooled down later in the afternoon, our guess the mini bones and doggy lucky dip went down well again, and of course our various shop items, including tuggies, Puppy School equipment and Treats.
In addition our have a go Mental exercise area was well receiv...ed by the dogs, with lots of doggies having a go.
Because it was so hot we even set up a doggy chill out zone, with plenty of water, cool mat and coat just in case.
We were busy in the ring, so don't have any photo's of the winning dogs, but here's some from the day.

Did you know it's national yoga day today? Did you know you could do yoga with your dog?
Real Dog Yoga is a programme of training, which involves teaching dogs to express and hold specific body postures, expressions and actions that stimulate the parasympathetic nervous system and help them to become or remain calm.
... We teach the Real Dog Yoga using 'option' training, where dogs have specific areas and communication signals they can use to opt out at any point. Regular breaks are taken following a session to ensure that emotional stressor's such as frustration do not complicate learning patterns.
As a qualified "Real Dog Yoga" instructor, i am running a 3 week taster to Dog yoga coming up at:- * Childswickham Memorial Hall - Tuesday 3rd July - 17th July 7:40 -8:40pm * Shipston on Stour - Scout hut - Sunday 22nd July - 5th August 7-8pm * Wyre Piddle village hall - Monday 6th August - 20th August 7:40 - 8:40pm
The course costs £35, including all notes.

So what are you up to this Saturday?
Well Pershore and Evesham Puppy school will be back at Wyre Piddle village fete, and we are hosting a free mini dog show from 3pm, it would be really lovely to see our clients and puppies/dogs again.
So if your free and would like to come and see us, we will have the shop, guess the no. of doggy bones, and you can have a go at the mental exercise games we will have at the show. (Alfred will be more than happy to demonstrate how to use them!)

Sue really knows her stuff- a great course tailored to your needs. Highly recommended.

Ollie, Cookie and I have had a great 6 weeks puppy training and have all learnt a lot. Looking forward to attending the 'Puppy Improvers' classes later in the year. Thank you Sue

User

Just wonderful, my young puppy adores his trainer - all kindness and fun. I'm a bit disabled with arthritis and Sue has wonderful solutions. I've had some 1:1 lessons while Jamie completes his vacinations. Had many lovely dogs, just wish they'd met Sue.

Just finished puppy class great class with even the naughtiest westie , thank-you sue for my new toy and treats

I have just finished 6 weeks puppy School with Sue. In that time Alfie has learn't sit, down, how to walk nicely on the lead, how to 'settle', 'off', and a few tricks to show off to his friends! Sue was very patient with his lack of self control and helped guide both me and Alfie in the right direction. Alfie has been for many pub lunches and settles beautifully when out in public. Yesterday he managed a full day at moreton show (with plenty of stops for puppy power naps) and everybody commeneted on his good behaviour! If you want the best possible start for your puppy, puppy school is the place to go! Excellent socialisation, a useful guide to accompany the course and demostrations from Sue too!

Hi

Have just finished 6 weeks of initial puppy training with Sue Price. I found the classes very useful and have come away with a puppy who has had a great start to her training. Sue visibly put a lot in to the classes and gave thoughtful advise and managed the class and puppies very professionally
