Always friendly welcoming staff (apart from one man, Ian?? Who's often very rude and dismissive under his breath towards customers) otherwise, the staff are happy to see my lil pups.

Myself and my partner keep tropical fish and often shop in Pets at Home Taunton as it is very convenient for us. Over the past few months we have visited the store on many occasions only to leave in disappointment. Most of the staff are friendly and helpful when you can find them. We usually have to walk round the store looking for someone to help us and even then have had to wait for over 15 minutes to be served. I could understand this if they were busy but the store is usually very quiet. On a recent visit we told a member of staff, who was stacking shelves, that we wanted to purchase some fish to which they repiled "We're busy" This is thoroughly unacceptable customer service and i won't be using the store again.

PLEASE DO NOT BUY ANY ANIMAL HERE!! I have had many animals here over the years, and they have gone down so much. I first brought a guinea pig here many years ago, who was meant to live for '8 years' but lived for 3, then had another one who lived to the same age. They were cared for perfectly and didn't show any sign of being ill until they died. I then went onto fishes, and their fish care is one big joke. They are all disease ridden, or mixed with breeds they shouldn't be. Heard a women tell a member of staff she 'liked how they cared about their goldfish' and I just laughed and told her how they really didn't. I got a goldfish here, and it was ill, so I took it back, and they took it and said they would 'care for it'. They said if it died, they would phone us up and tell us. I then went to the store 2 days after, and I found her dead (not fresh dead, probably been forgotten). I then told someone, and witnessed them take her out in a net and chuck her in the bin -this was a few years ago now-. I then went back to buy a hamster. Let's just note that they tell us not to keep hamsters in the same cage, but they have 12 all squished in together. The woman who sold him to me didn't have an idea what she was going, and was scared of the hamsters herself, dropping a few along the way. I then brought my hamster, tamed him and he was the sweetest thing ever. Then, at 9 months old, he died, because he was inbred, which made his organs not work properly. I had never been so upset and angry at the same time. Obviously not at the hamster, but at pets at home. Not only did mine die, but someone else's I knew at the time. We both brought them a few months after each other, and then they died a few months after. I went in a little while after, to see two hamsters (that's were brother and sister) in the same cage, and the female pregnant. This means the babies will die because they will be inbred. Purely cruel. Their prices are also sky high. They want me to pay £100 for a rabbit (that won't live for more than 18 months), when I could go to a private breeder, who actually takes care of them, and makes sure they aren't inbred. I will now either get my animals from other shops (got my newest hamster from a garden centre, who generally cared for her, and she's lived longer, also had much more life in her). In no way do I regret getting the animals, I regret getting them from here. Please get your animals from somewhere that actually loves their animals.

Excellent range of products for allkinda of pets and a great range of food, accessories and supplies. Helpful staff and a vet facility too.

User

We use the vets in store and the staff are friendly and helpfull. The cost is reasonable compared to the local vets.

Love it here. Great selection of animals and fish (Even though the fish always have a disease and die so I don't buy them) BUT oh my gosh the fluffy bunny variety! Love coming here with my little one! Amazing shop. AMAZING BUNNIES!!
