Assessment and Diagnosis
Whether you are suffering with long term back pain, an acute sports injury, arthritis, joint pain, muscle pain or any other musculoskeletal condition, we have extensively trained specialist therapists who can help. We will listen to you describe your symptoms, understand and assess the source of the problem and then provide you with a quick diagnosis.
The cause of your condition, treatment and prognosis will be explained to you in plain English so you can understand exactly what is happening.
Rehabilitation
Once the source of your symptoms has been diagnosed your therapist will provide you with a customised treatment plan. You will receive hands on skilled therapy to manage your symptoms and start you on the road to recovery which will be supplemented with a home exercise program. Once your symptoms have resolved you will be rehabilitated to your previous level of function, whether that is day to day activities or international sport.
Spinal Manipulation
Commonly used as a treatment for simple back and neck pain, spinal manipulation is a very skilled technique and requires an experienced physio. Specific pressure must be applied to the spine in a particular way, in order to help loosen stiff joints which can be a source of pain.
Used in conjunction with education and home exercises it can be a very quick and comfortable way to resolve certain types of back pain.
Acupunture
This technique has been used for over 2, 000 years in traditional Chinese medicine. More recently western medicine has developed its own method of acupuncture, based on the traditional Chinese methods but with a slightly more scientific basis.
Research has begun into the exact physiological mechanisms by which acupuncture works and although there is much research still to be done, we already know that acupuncture can help with pain relief, muscle spasm and back or joint pain.

Sports Massage
Here at PhysioDirect we have a number of sports therapists who practice sport massage. This can be of benefit whether you have a specific sports injury or you've just been training very hard and are suffering the after-affects and sore muscles.
If you're not sure if this is the correct treatment for you then we can always arrange for an assessment by a physiotherapist who can then refer you on to a sports therapist if it is appropriate.
Home visits
Are you too unwell or not mobile enough to travel to your local clinic? If you would like we can arrange for one of our therapists to visit you at home. Most of the treatment we can administer at our clinic can also be administered at home in your own environment with one of our friendly physiotherapists.
Once your treatment is underway you may find that you feel well enough to visit your local clinic, and this transfer can easily be arranged.

He was brilliant, incredibly effective treatment sessions and he was very compassionate and supportive as well as I was pretty traumatised by the accident . Highly recommend.

OWEN has been taking care of me and his staff are fantastic I had a car accident in which I was the victim a young girl aimed her old Corsa at my merc slk and hit me broadside on the passenger door thus causing side impact whiplash and damage to my achilees tendon basically all of my left side. The G. P. did not spot any of this but recommended physio i was told it would be 6 to 8wks to get an appointment so I went to physio direct. That was in August 2013. I still need treatment occasionally and these folks are the BEST.
I've really felt an improvement in the couple of sessions I have had with Physio Direct. Soo much Netter then NHS Physio, Physio Direct really take the time out to treat the individual they are working with!! X x
I've had a couple of injuries this year (shoulder and hip) that have been causing me a lot of pain and preventing me from training. I had an event in September that I was desperate to do and had lost hope of being able to, I started seeing Ryan for some physio around mid June and he had me back training within about six weeks!
I'm back in the gym, managed to do Tough Mudder in September, and have started Crossfit thanks to the help and professional service Ryan offers. Highly recommended.
Had physio after a car accident at the derby centre with Ryan Bartlett he's an amazing young man and knows his job very well and I was back to myself after a few weeks I highly recommend Ryan Bartlett to anyone in derby can't say on the other staff there as never dealt with them but I'm sure they are just as amazing if you read this thank you so much Ryan xxxx

From having just about no movement on back and shoulders, being in constant pain, had around 4 sessions now, pain just about gone, can now move arms as a normal person can and loads of movement with back, still need further treatment but can now have a good nights sleep without being in agony, can also do my work better, thank you Eleni Kapsali
Eleni is helping me with my wrists, which have been very, very painful for months. I've tried lots of other treatments, but none have helped like Eleni, not even the doctor's injections. Eleno is brilliant! I wish I'd found her ages ago. She uses a lot of manipulation, which really really helps, and gives me exercises and advice too. After a session with Eleni I feel like I have new hands!
Can’t rate these guys high enough they have been able to deal with a range of aches and pains I had and were hugely instrumental in keeping my training on track. Thanks Guys
Booked in today with a kneck problem and visited the Arnold shop on gedling road they were very helpful and got me in the same day I rang . The treatment was amazing and a very special thank you to Owen for cracking my kneck it feels great now I owe you 1

A few weeks ago I visited your Newark practice for the first time and met Becky. I gave her a my history as to what had prompted me to see her. Not least because I had recently seen a Neurologist who, after only 15 minutes, told me that all I needed was the Pain Clinic and a Physio. After an initial consultation and then a follow up, Becky wrote a letter to my GP clearly stating that I must have further investigations due to the nature of my symptoms not being of a typical musculoskeletal presentation. Thankfully the letter and an emergency admission to A & E, forced my doctor to arrange a referral for an MRI. The results showed a few concerns and I have since spoken to Becky to update and thank her. After my appointment with the Neurologist, I was left feeling like I had made the whole thing up but now, with thanks to Becky, I am being taken seriously. I cannot recommend the Newark practice highly enough. Thank you
The sports massage was very good but the service from the admin side of things really let them down.
I have been seeing Ryan he has been great explaining what he was doing I was shown exercises to do at home I feel I have benefited by his help very professional at all times thank you Ryan
