I had an amazing dinner here last Friday. The authentic Italian fare was fresh and delicious and the drinks were superb! The service was professional, personable and very accommodating.

Vincenzo and the staff at Piccolino made me feel like I was dining with my family instead of alone. This restaurant is a must when visiting London.

User

Great menu, great service, lovely venue. No pressure to leave once you have finished your meal unlike a lot of other restaurants in London.

User

Fantastic food. Great staff. Well worth it. Great way to kill a couple of hours on a Saturday afternoon.

User

Fantastic food & fantastic service

User

Fabulous restaurant, excellent food, the chips were exceptional and steak cooked to perfection.Reasonable priced wine for a nice restaurant and that was good too. All the staff were friendly and attentive. We will visit again when we come to London.

User

User

A fabulous Saturday evening never been before great location a really good atmosphere the food was superb and excellent wine recommended by the waiter would highly recommend and I will be back when in London

User

We had lunch yesterday, sat outside and it was lovely. The food was great, the staff were friendly and the service good. I’ll definitely return.

User

Stopped here for lunch with my mum yesterday, I had the Calzone with salami mozzarella fennel basil and tomato , The dough was lovely however there was far too much mozzarella and barely any basil and tomato which made for a very mushy and unpleasant taste, when I mentioned this to the waiter his reply was that’s good then it’s a good comment to say there is too much rather than not enough laughed and walked away !

Also be aware of the prices,

We had roughly worked out the bill but when it came we were surprised as it had not mentioned that they then add the vat on top of the menu price and also a 12.5% service charge . I know it’s central London so don’t expect something for nothing but over all found it a lot of money for not a lot.

User

Asked if we could have just a drink the waitress was lovely said it would be Ok but when we saw the menu we decidered to have a shsring plate to the staff were super laughing about the fact that theyde just cleared for us to drink then had to reset almost straight away A lovely experiance tucked away just off Oxford St smashing thanks x

User

Not overly impressed, overpriced even for London considering portions, wasnt asked what we would like to drink until the waitress arrived to take our food order, main dish arrived immediately after the starter, and to finalise things ther waiter tried to tell us a chocolate fudge cake was the chocolate and almond tart!! No taste of almond and last time I googled tart it definately described it as pastry based, no sign of any pastry in ours!! Cold draught from door being continually opened too. Will give this a miss next time

Food ok not as good as Nottingham !! Watch for billing ... after reading these reviews I wish I’d have took off service charge as there seems to be quite a theme of this .... was charged £37.50 for bottle of sauce blanc the menu said £27.50 !!!! Really disappointing form from such a good brand ...

User

We stopped here for lunch , I ordered the tuna prawn and scallop skewers , however there were no scallops on the skewers and the tuna was overdone ! I had 3 small prawns and 6 dried up bits of over cooked tuna on the 3 skewers . I was going to complain but we were in a rush and I did not want to eat at a different time to my friends who were happy with their choices! We ordered a bottle of Gavi and the waiter put the bottle in an ice bucket near another table , unfortunately our Waiter was not great at filling up our glasses , and on two occasions another waiter lifted a glass from our table as he thought it was empty and finished with ! I saw this happen on a table near us , and when the waiter put the empty glass on a tray he was unsure which glass to return to the customer , who again had more wine in a bottle , and instead of giving him a clean glass , he asked the customer to tell him which glass was his from around 8 dirty glasses in his tray ! The customer refused , quite rightly . When I mentioned my lack of scallops I was offered a free dessert , which was not really recompense as I didn’t want dessert , I had a free expresso , I’d rather have had the scallops ! The dish was £21 not value for money !

We have eaten at Piccolino several times but now feel the standard of food, service and toilets/area is not what we are used too! Not so sure we will return when we have such a wide choice to eat in this area.

Food was fine, service is a major issue here. Our group have visited many of the Individual Restaurants and never had a problem until this one. This is the first time we had to refuse a service charge. We arrived at 7.30, finished our main at 11.30... I’m pretty sure if we wanted deserts, the kitchen would have been closed. By this point, we managed to have 3 drinks and a main, almost waisted an entire evening in London. As we left (after mains) the other restaurants around had started to pack up. I’d go as far as wanting our money back, but I’m pretty sure we wouldn’t see anything as speed seems to be a running theme.

Not all was bad, however. The drinks, when they came, were well made, prosecco was fresh and cold and we managed to get an outside seat in the 27 degrees weather. Our starter (tomato garlic pizza) seemed fresh and I’m pretty confident that it was direct to table from the pizza oven. The crab dish had more crab in than I’ve had in the past with this same dish in other Individual Restaurants in other parts of the UK. Quality was 10/10.

All in all, if you want to visit Piccolinos but don’t want the wait, try one of the other ones. One of our favourite eateries is actually Piccolinos in Clitheroe, Lancashire, so you can imagine how disappointed we have been made to feel and how reluctant I was to post such a heart breaking review.

We will be back and we hope that this was a one off!

Check the prices on the menus and compare with your receipt! Preying on naïve tourists and one-time visitors - I have over 10 years experience in the hospitality industry!

Popped in for a drink, had a look at the drinks menu and in the Gin and Tonic section they were all listed as £9.50 which is what I ordered .... the bill comes and it’s £11.50! I brought it up and they said it was because I went with slimline tonic at first, in all my years in the industry either tonic costs the exact same! Waitress disappeared and came back and said “it’s because it was a double” I had to take the menu and show them that it stated “all measures are 50ml (double) as standard unless requested otherwise”..... they knocked the service charge off....... how nice of them(!)

We were also seated at the back next to all the fish which smelt rancid. Not a pleasant experience and judging by a lot of the reviews this place seriously needs to pull their finger out.

Positives: my gin and tonic was nice, and served in a lovely glass, the decor was tasteful and music level just right.

Watch for the continual upsell - make sure you point to what you want and insist on that. A side became a main meal even though I pointed at it. Not a good experience

User

To finish off our New Years trip in London we came to this restaurant on the 2/1. The location is gorgeous which drew us into the restaurant. However the experience was awful.

We paid nearly £50 for lobster which had obviously been sat out too long, you could smell it across the table. Part of the meat tasted ok which we ate so the staff said there was nothing they could do about the foul tasting, out of date lobster.

The smoked salmon pasta had no smoked salmon.

Both pastas were over cooked. I myself know when pasta is done with no culinary skills.

After choosing one option off of the lunch menu (£13) they went on the put the full £19 onto the bill and then tried to tell us that we hadn’t specified what menu we wanted the food off. We had used the lunch menu to point out the order.

The staff were extremely rude to us all, they were pretentious and clearly thought they were better than the paying customers.

Staff clearly had no ‘people skills’, not knowing how to speak to customers or what good customer service is. The staff clearly had a problem about serving 4 young adults as they appeared much more polite to the older customers.

At the end of the meal they wanted to know why we wouldn’t pay the service charge. I began to explain why we were not happy and they walked off whilst I was talking.

If you expect a service charge - at least don’t stick your noses up at the customers
