About Pilates By Ria

Having practiced Pilates for almost a decade myself, I decided to train as a teacher so that I could share my love for Pilates with others. I am an absolute believer in the life changing mind-body benefits of Pilates, helping to restore natural fluid movement and a sense of wellbeing into our fast-paced, modern lifestyles.

I truly believe that everyone should feel great in their own bodies no matter what their age or fitness level. My intention as a teacher is to encourage more awareness of how we move and to ultimately create a freedom of movement that is not only effortless but also intuitive, making for a happier body inside and out.

Our bodies are incredibly intelligent and they are designed to feel amazing. Exercise doesn’t need to be boring or bland, with names like Mermaid, Climb a Tree, Teaser, Swan Dive, Rolling Like a Ball and Russian Splits, Pilates is quite the opposite and full of flavour! We all deserve to be the best versions of ourselves that we can be, so why not chase amazing and strive to achieve your bodies full movement potential.

I offer mat and reformer Pilates, covering all levels from complete beginners to advanced, along with pre and post natal Pilates. I’d love for you to say hello! You can contact me on 07532 364 983 or at hello@pilatesbyria.com

A little Pilates history…

Originally named Contrology and created by Joseph Pilates in the 1920’s, Pilates offers a system of dynamic, extremely functional exercises that focus on strengthening our core postural muscles to support the spine and balance the body. The beauty of this unique movement technique is that it not only lengthens, strengthens and encourages flexibility to make for a lean, toned body, Pilates is also incredibly relaxing for the busiest of minds.

The functional movement patterns offered by Pilates can be brought effortlessly into our everyday lives, helping with those lifestyle related niggles such as stiff shoulders or a sore lower back, but also optimizing performance in many a sport from dance, running, cycling, tennis, surfing and swimming. Whether you’re a triathlete or professional hammock swinger, busy mum or doting granddad, retired or in your twenties, recovering from an injury or fighting fit, Pilates offers something for absolutely everyone and as Joe is famously quoted in saying:

“In ten sessions you will feel the difference, in 20 sessions you will see the difference and in 30 sessions you’ll have a whole new body. ”
