Woodland RA an installation by PiM.studio Architects at the Royal Academy of Arts
The Woodland RA installation is an attempt to bring Nature inside the Royal Academy of Arts, inviting visitors to re-discover a deeper and more intimate relationship with the natural realm.
... We need to re-articulate the relationship between humans, nature and technologies. Architecture is about creating new relationships. We must imagine a new way of inhabiting architecture that is open to new forms of coexistence between human and nature.
The Woodland RA installation is an attempt to bring Nature inside the Royal Academy of Arts, inviting visitors to re-discover a deeper and more intimate relation with the natural realm. We have created an indoor temporary forest by installing 24 Nordmann Fir (Abies Nordmanniana) in the central saloon of the John Madejski Fine Rooms.
The sustainably-sourced trees have been donated to Hackney Council, who will plant them in their public parks and gardens as a small contribution to London green regeneration.

Images from London is...at the 서울도시건축비엔날레 Seoul Biennale of Architecture and Urbanism
London is… the topic of the 2019 London exhibition at the Seoul Biennale of Architecture and Urbanism, curated by Peter Bishop and Creative Director Isabel Allen.
London is a city of constant adaptation, which is why it has remained one of the major cities in the world. In this exhibition, we will consider London’s key strengths and attributes that it will need to develop in order to remain ...a paradigm of urban living in the 21st Century; a city that celebrates intense human interaction.
PiM.studio Architects are delighted to have been invited, together with 9 other emerging and established architectural firms, to contribute a proposition to describe what London needs to continue to do for it to remain the leading global city, through and beyond the middle of this century.
our theme: London is…a city to be a child in
follow our updates and see our proposal at PiM.play at Seoul Biennale

The exhibition also showcases visions for a future London by students from the Bartlett School of Architecture. The school enjoys a rich reputation for cultivating innovative ideas in architecture, and. The exhibition will feature student work from Samuel Coulton, Ryan Hakimian, Naomi Rubbra, Ellie Sampson, Kieran Wardle, Ananda Wiegandt and Eric Wong.

A Second Life an exhibition designed by PiM.studio Architects for Matter of Stuff at sketch during London Design Festival
http://www.pim.studio/portfolio-posts/ldf 19/
... Matter of Stuff, the leading design and manufacturing consultancy, presents A Second Life exhibition at sketch for London Design Festival 2019, showcasing a newly commissioned body of work made from a single raw material. Hosted by sketch, the iconic artist-conceived food and drinks destination in London’s Mayfair, the exhibition will run until Thursday 7 November 2019. PiM.studio Architects, Brodie Neill, Matteo Fogale + Emma Archer and Studio Furthermore have transformed hundreds of wooden dowels used for the scenography of Matter of Stuff’s 2018 LDF exhibition into an array of experimental new works. Instead of recycling the dowels through mulching, the gallery asked the designers to reinterpret, explore and experiment with the material to create new designs while maintaining some of the structural integrity of the original installation. The result is a resolute and ongoing statement about the infinite possibilities of sustainable design, upcycling and waste avoidance.
Imagining a dynamic, new spatial experience within the sketch entrance, RIBA award-winning architects PiM.studio Architects has used the pine dowels to create temporary walls. During Frieze London (3-6 October 2019), artist Stephan Zimmerli will give the installation a playful new look by painting the dowels with a graphic pattern, which will reveal itself as visitors walk through the exhibition.

As part of the London Design Festival we have designed a special installation for Matter of Stuff and sketch
A Second Life will be open from 16 September until November 2019
... We re-used pine dowels from a previous installation to create temporary walls. The dowels are treated with a graphic pattern painted in natural hues, which reveals itself as visitors walk through the exhibition. The pattern also adds a textural quality to the walls, while the soft illumination from the back produces a subtle, warm ambience.
