I must have watched this at least three times now. This less than a minute and a half animation is packed full perspective and insight into almost every social media platform from 2003 to last year.

Think you know everything about WeChat? “Good Product Circle, an extension of WeChat’s “Shopping List” feature, lets users share different e-commerce Mini Program stores with friends, making the process of “grass planting [creating a demand] + shopping” — which is the core of the social commerce trend in China — much easier and more seamless.”

From all of us at PingPong Digital "Happy Dragon Boat Festival".
Probably the best-known story in modern China of the festival’s origin is the story of Qu Yuan (340-278 BC). Qu was a politician of the Chu royal house. However, when the king allied with the powerful Qin state, Qu was exiled for opposing the alliance. Qu Yuan was a great poet and wrote extensively during his exile. Twenty-eight years later, Qin captured the Chu Capital city Ying. In despair, Qu Yuan drowned hi...mself in the Miluo River.
The local people who admired Qu raced out in their boats to save him. This is the origin of the dragon boat races. When the body was not found they dropped sticky rice into the river for the fish to eat instead of the body. This is the origin of zongzi or sticky rice dumplings.
We hope your holiday is full of good food and company.

Why do Chinese consumers rely on influencers? There are 3 reasons. 1. China is a young and digital-oriented market. 2. Chinese consumers go to social media ahead to make purchase decisions. 3. Many Chinese consumers are still new buyers.

Feiliao (飞聊) or, if you translate it into English, Flipchat is ByteDance’s (the company behind TikTok) newest instant messaging/social media app. What makes it different? Read on.

Popular fashion app Little Red Book has instituted policies banning micro-influences from working with brands on the platform. What does this mean for brands? KOL partnerships on the platform will be more expensive and justifiably so, at least according to the KOLs who made the cut.

“China provides a window into the future of luxury markets. In other words, the global luxury market in the future will eventually look like today’s modern Chinese market. So to win in China is to position your company quite well for years to come. Why is this?”

“This new era in Chinese shopping offers a glimpse into the likely future of retail around the world. More than $413 billion of goods will be sold through social e-commerce in China by 2022, an almost fivefold increase from $90 billion in 2017, according to researcher Frost & Sullivan.”

WeChat really is an all-in-one app. China’s biggest social media platform has begun testing live-streaming features for select accounts and the results have been impressive.

Why can’t influencers like Kim Kardashian and Gigi Hadid can’t break China? The fact that Kardashian and others post all their Weibo content in English shows where the problem lies. Interesting take by the South China Morning Post.

Interesting read on Facebook's recent changes and its larger emphasis on groups. Some outlets are saying they are trying to change after a string of scandals and others are saying they're looking to WeChat - China's largest and most successful social media platform.

"We must all make sure the world we live in does not descend into the chaotic warring seven kingdoms of Westeros," Chinese President Xi Jinping warned delegates at an international meeting. Wonder what he thought of this week’s episode.

"For many who live abroad or have returned from education abroad since 2012, Instagram has opened up a window to a global world of fashion influencers and trendsetters that do not have accounts on Chinese social media. What’s more, numbers by social analytics firm Napoleoncat point to 2.6 to 3.7 million mainland China-based Instagram users in any given month.
This begs the question: when it comes to marketing to Chinese luxury consumers, could Instagram influencers give Weibo KOLs a run for their money?"
