Pit & Pendulum (Nottingham)

About Pit & Pendulum (Nottingham)

A devilishly dark and mysterious world, a hollow in the belly of Nottingham: The Pit & Pendulum. Wickedly good drinks, sinfully tempting food, and an atmosphere to die for. . .

Went in for the first time on my 21st for some food and drinks, food is absolutely fantastic! The the drinks are too and such a diverse cocktail menu. The staff are really nice and the overall aesthetic of the pub is gorgeous and I had an amazing time. I'll be coming back to win a 7 deadly sins t-shirt.

This venue is phenomenal. I love it. Literally see something new every time I’m here. The team are friendly and the atmosphere is spot on. Can’t get enough of the food, and the Seven Deadly Sins cocktails are to die for.

Never ever seen a bar like it before. Hugely themed on edgar Allen poe too which I love his work. The ammount of metal music played in the background was in incredible so big horn raise to that! lml Drinks are amazing too.

But most of all best rock bar in Nottingham, and they way torches were flamed outside and the way the bar looked on the inside with all the gothic accessories,

You'd have sworn it was something from a combination of a Tim Burton and Vincent price movie!

I cannot wait to go back again for sure man. For next time I shall try all the four hourseman of the apocalypse cocktails. That death in was bloody delish.

Me and my friends had a fantastic night for a birthday!! Drinks were amazing, staff were lovely and friendly, music was outstanding the whole place was clean (apart from our table at the end of the night, sorry!) and the atmosphere was brilliant!! 6 stars out of 5 easily!! Will definitely be making a return visit next time we’re in Nottingham!! xx

It’s just a shame I don’t live here! I’ve read a couple of negative reviews but my partner and I was here with a friend on two days and it’s nothing short of awesome! The only thing was a lass had her phone pinched by a “tourist” it was so sad no one should have to experience that (ever) but more so when enjoying a nice time with her friend! Staff were lovely and food & drinks great! Will be back!

Good food and really good drinks. I would highly recommend the Pride drink. It also has a really cool atmosphere to it. Being named after the Edgar Alan Poe tale is going to give it that kind of atmosphere.

User

First time here really enjoyed it, fantastic atmosphere, wicked music and awesome bar staff that actually took a few seconds to talk to you on a busy Saturday night, well done this pub made the stag do!

User

Came from Oxford and was not disappointed. Nice Staff, great (well priced) drinks. Awesome venue and Shout out to the DJ zombie teddy that smashed the music all night.

User

Awesome atmosphere. Great staff, very welcoming. Great menu. Food was amazing, best burger I've had in a long time. Next time I'm coming for the pie.

User

I had a glass of Death the only thing was it did not come in the skull glass promised. It was very very nice but would of been better in a skull glass.I will be back and I will expect a skull glass as advertised.Great place

Great city centre boozer with a highly entertaining Hammer House theme (right down to the loos behind the bookcase!). Excellent props with exceptional care that’ll keep you talking about it for months. Massive venue with various bars for when needs require them. Ample seating in suitably apt theatrical benches. Fair range of ales but very poor draft lager option or even bottled so it was a fierce-priced Magners (330ml. Grrrr!) before finding Rekorderlig ciders. Plenty more booze to choose inc an eclectic range in-keeping with the theme. A pub to try before you die... and after!

User

Tried to get one of the cocktails but as you put vodka or gin in pretty much everything I asked if they could leave the vodka out, informed all cocktails are pre mixed, even wetherspoons make their’s up from scratch, you had literally every ingredient on the bar as I could see them, I explained this was due to an allergy but they wouldn’t help at all!

Seriously if you accommodated to allergies you would actually have people spending more money.

I understand the bar can be busy but why not have a section just for cocktails on busy nights then the others can serve quicker!

The pit is our usual hang out when in Nottingham. We were there 24/11 and 25/11 2017 for a few hours each time. The vibe is usually awesome but this time around it was a bit odd.

Music was eclectic which isn't a bad thing.

The place was messy and seemed to be very understaffed. Tables and ledges crammed with glasses and plates.

We did get a table clear and managed to order some food. The meals were tasty and served in about 20 minutes despite being warned of a 40 minute wait.

The staff are lovely but the stress levels were a little high. One of our mates was at the bar for 30 minutes waiting to get served.

We will go back but wanted to let you guys know our experience

Yesterday we arrived for our family day trip and overnight stay in Nottingham. We (myself, husband and our 11 & 13 year old) stopped here for a drink and quietly sat outside in the gorgeous sunshine for approximately an hour watching and enjoying the lovely people around us. Staff came outside regularly to collect glasses etc and we enjoyed a couple of drinks and a sit down. Then, as we were getting ready to leave, TWO members of staff directly approached us and told us that they were a 'strictly over 18s' venue... This was after we had been there for over an hour! They had clearly seen us there when we arrived, but said that they had "only just noticed.." What absolute nonsense and completely rude staff! Our suspicion is that a member of the public wanted the table and the were turfing us out! I used to really like this bar, as visited with friends before.. I certainly won't be visiting again!

User

Terrible venue. Despite coming here for years I went in with my friends to order a soft drink and was refused at the bar because of not having ID. So I sat back down and was then kicked out by one of your staff in a very undignified fashion bearing in mind I only ordered a soft drink, I'm 28, it was on 6:30pm and all my friend who are in their late 20's/early 30's had already been served. I've never had a problem buying a soft drink without ID so I can only assume it's under new management who are less than impressive. You've lost a customer because I won't be coming in to buy your overpriced cocktails so that'll be one less customer in your empty bar.

On Monday night myself and my son were recommended to visit here by a friend prior to a gig at the arena... all good until we were told there was a half hour wait for food but thought by the time we'd got anywhere else we may as well stay. 45 mins later I asked the same guy who'd told us half an hour how much longer to be told " I told you it was an hour and a half!" When I challenged him he actually argued back!!

When the food eventually arrived - an hour after we ordered - it was a tiny portion of dry chicken with a slice of bacon slapped on it and some slightly melted cheese, what looked and tasted like oven chips oh and a charred tomato half... I Could've knocked that up in 20 minutes flat! There were very few people in and at least one other party that left due to the wait for food.

If you like crap food and rude service this is the place for you - otherwise steer well clear!
