We where walking past here after a stroll along the river and thought it looked very inviting... we didn't have any trouble finding a lovely table outside, it was a warm sunny day and quite busy... we where greeted straight away by a very smiley friendly waitress, she was very helpful explaining the food menu and drinks menu, we ordered lunch, I had the beetroot humus,(delicious) and chicken skewers....my partner had the chicken burger and a side of onion rings, all was extremely good!! I had a very tasty cocktail too... all of our food was delicious!! Couldn't wish for any better... the whole experience was really positive and will definitely be going here again whenever we are in Bristol.

User

We had our lunch here yesterday. ...12 of us all adults, we didn't book...we were very lucky as we were all able to sit together. It was 5* and would definitely eat here again....venue is a stunning building. ..beautiful. waiter service was excellent and nothing was too much trouble. The light bites menus were very well priced and for £1.50 extra you could have a wine to complement your meal. The meals were plentiful. My own little moan would be one meal was stone cold. ..when we told the waitress the meal was cold...she said yes it was supposed to be...a dish of noodles...red n yellow peppers and cold broccoli and pakchow with soya sauce. ..tasty. ..but not cold..please make this known on your menu. .if we've known it was going to be cold we would have chosen differently. ..apart from this..wonderful. .we will return. Thank you

My friends and I came from Newport, Cardiff, Birmingham, Coventry and Bristol for a get together in Bristol yesterday. We saw this bar in a lovely location, went in for coffee and ended up staying there all day. Although it was full we seemed to have plenty of space and enjoyed our get together immensely. We had a very nice lunch, a few glasses of wine and more coffee served by nice friendly staff. We meet up regularly at different cities and this venue was the most pleasant bar yet. We had a lovely day - thank you

User

Had a lovely lunch here yesterday. Fish and chips. Big piece of fish perfectly cooked, nice chips and a really tasty pea puree and tartare sauce. Mmmmm.

User

Cracking venue, amazing atmosphere, the staff and management are a delight as is the DJ (Anthony) who literally plays for his crowd 5+* Big up the doorstaff too

User

We had lunch at the Pitcher and Piano on Tuesday. We ordered a bacon burger, a steak and Stilton baguette, fish goujons and beef bolognese. The food on the whole was nice, but the steak and Stilton baguette was devoid of Stilton. Also the service was a little slow. Our issues were brought to the attention of the manager and the cost of a round of drinks and the baguette was removed from the bill. The food was very nice and it was good to see that our complaint was dealt with with no fuss.

User

Very nice but as it was glorious day and they weee very busy they couldn't cope and service was slow but on the whole it was good food and good value. We were only snaking so the bottle wine deal with three small dishes for £21 very good. We topped up with portion skinny fries which could have been hotter but as I said they were really busy. Will go back. Thanks.

User

My family and I had a wonderful meal here today, very tasty food and great service. However I was slightly concerned with the children's portion sizes. My 2 year old daughter was given more chips on her plate than my husband! I understand the children's menu would probably cater for up to 10 or 12 year old but this was an unnecessary amount even for an older child. Maybe consider a toddler portion size to avoid such wastage.

User

Enjoyed lunch here yesterday, beautiful building nice atmosphere, service was excellent prompt, efficient, and unrushed, my meal of piri piri chicken was good, but the garnish of watercress let the meal down it was yellowing and tired looking, so perhaps a word with the chef is needed, dessert of Eton mess was perfect! Heaven to end the meal with, will certainly be back.

User

A well-kept pint, nice position and the food looked superb, ( didn't have chance to try it)

User

I had the large burger and I thought it was delicious as were the fries. My wife had the fish & chips, whilst the chips were excellent, the fish was below a reasonable standard. The fish was watery looking possibly cooked from frozen. I would also add we both thought the menu was quite limited. The waiting was excellent and welcoming.

User

Drinks are very expensive up to other bars in the area but apart from that nice place with good DJ music

User

Worst Burger ever...sorry...

Minus One star because not all the menu is served outside

Minus one star because the Burger was just a nightmare - dry prezel bun with burned bakon and sauce messing everything up - fish as an alternative is hardly acceptable

And finally minus one star for the fat dripping chips - not nice

Won't come back...

User

Nice cocktails, nice view. Pity we placed an order for drinks and the barman “ forgot to bring them” or indeed make them!

User

Good atmosphere. Poor service. Stood here writing this review and waiting over 10 minutes for drinks and still not been served!

User

Terrible customer service, my friends booked a table for us to go for my 18th birthday celebrations... We turned up and they hadn't even prepared the table and the waitress didn't even give us cutlery, it wasn't until another waitor noticed and got us some. Just felt very unwelcome! The waitress' attitude towards us was horrible throughout the night especially when we were paying

The food.. Well we asked for chicken and the waitor said straight away that they had no chicken whatsoever, my friend ordered the chicken caesar salad without the chicken basically and they said they would give her bacon instead. It comes out with chicken on and bacon, they charged her £1 for the extra that she didn't even want!! My food was tasteless.

Sorry, had to rant! This was the worst restaurant experience I have ever had.

User

I visited this venue yesterday at around 3pm with 2 friends. I ordered chicken and chips which came with red cabbage and slaw. I got served the chicken and chips but no side. I asked where the side was and got told 'chef ran out' so was offered a small side salad instead. I sat at the table for another 50 minutes and never saw the waitress or the salad. The chicken was dry and inedible.

The chips were possibly the worst chips I've eaten, they were the dark brown and had been cooked in old stale fat. Really soggy and tasted burnt.

We asked 3 times for someone to come over to the table to discuss the bill and standard of food. When we finally got someone I explained very politely why I wasn't happy to pay for my food which was clear as i had hardly touched it, but the waitress insisted only her manager could deal with this type of situation.... But 20 minutes later; still no manager but the waitress eventually returned and said she had removed my meal from the bill.

No apology. But I wasn't expecting an apology to be honest. The fact I had taken 2 close friends all the way from Gloucester to Bristol on the train to show them Bristol for the first time and we had chosen this venue out of 100's of fantastic venues wouldn't have mattered to her of course. I was really embarrassed about my poor choice of restaurant which I had chosen based on customer reviews which seemed to be quite good!

It wasn't partically busy and there were plenty of staff behind the bar making drinks but there weren't many staff around on the floor for table service. The customer service standards were borderlining poor, and the food standard has a lot to be desired considering the prices. I wasn't happy to pay £12 for a piece of dried chicken and burnt chips with no side. Following our visit yesterday I would not recommend this venue to anyone. We were all disappointed and it honestly put a bit of a downer on our day.

User

I visited Pitcher and Piano this evening with my family and 1 year old son, just as I sat down I was told by the waitress 'no babies allowed' and asked to leave immediately. We were all told we could not finish our drinks (didn't have a chance to even sip mine!) and we would receive a refund but we need to leave straight away.

The manager brought our refund out to us, as he mumbled something or other to us. A family next to us having their meals, said how completely bizarre this was and that they were 'disgusted' by another family being asked to leave.

I will not be visiting any Pitcher and Piano again, shocked at a restaurant not allowing babies, especially as this was before 8pm and sat outside!
