User

Great service and very attentive on a busy Friday night. Very informative and helpful about the veg options.

User

Great atmosphere but one of the staff members should have warned us maybe 10 mins prior to needing the balcony for reservations, as we hadn't finished our drinks. He just told us we had to leave the balcony, so we had to get up and go & there was also quite an upset lady who had been moved twice. Fantastic place but good timing is everything and a little courtesy, for people spending money there wouldn't go a miss.

User

Booked ahead for a table of 8 for pre-drinks & lunch prior to rugby match. Arrived to fantastic outdoor table (weather was beautiful) right next to Thames. Ordered drinks which were delivered promptly, set up a bar tab and could quite happily have sat there all afternoon. Didn't eventually eat (but staff didn't seem to mind our change of heart) and just sat drinking beers in the sun! They had a large BBQ going and burgers looked delish. Great location, great service but would definitely advise booking ahead for a large party - very busy! Thanks P&P for a great few hours.

User

Always wonderful food and great service ! We love eating here having some bubbles and then me and the girls get some row boats from Richmond river always starts here

User

Thursday lunch, not very busy which was great. Staff super friendly, always canvassing the dining area to see if we needed anything. l had a delicious Club Sandwich main. Calamari starter serving was meagre :-/. Honey glazed bacon wrapped pork Saussies were yum, again just one or two more in the serving would have made a difference. Great, fresh re-vamp of interior and fresh spruce up of outside - although l feel the outside area could at least have been pressure/steam washed to finish the facelift off - the stones would have come up like new. I hope on busier days there are staff brought in to manage the workload. We had great service, but with a half full venue, they were busy.

User

Stopped off for a spot of lunch Saturday afternoon before the rugby match. It was delightful sitting in their garden close to the river. I had a club sandwich which was tasty served with skinny fries. There was a good choice of menu with vegetarian options. The staff, especially a young lady who took our order were very good and efficient with a smile. Great experience ...thanx

User

Went here after the refit and I must say it looks really nice. Sat out in the beer garden as it was a nice sunny day. Had a set lunch menu which came fairly quickly. Food was ok but not the best that I have in Richmond.

Would visit again but only for drinks

User

The food was absolutely delicious, one of the best fish and chips I have had and came out piping hot. Sat outside Sunday, extremely busy with only 2 waiting staff so the service was very poor. Was told our food would take 30 mins but it was about an hour and we got our drinks 30 mins after we ordered and that was because we went and complained. Asked for cutlery, it never came, asked for milk to go with the tea but it never came and also the drinks order was wrong. Great food, rubbish service. Would only go again because of location.

User

Funny for me the service was good the food was average but it was fine for a oub lunch - suggest they improve their breads and this would create much nice sandwiches- rather than what looked like a supermarket part baked baguette and a very flat white club sandwich. Would not rush back

User

Average food, slow if friendly bar service (and serving in order of arrival at the bar is a basic skill, surely, but not in evidence downstairs), so the location is what keeps this place open. The bussing staff on the terrace are fantastic, though.

User

Unfortunately we didn't have a great experience today - I didn't want to complain at the time but it's played on my mind all day that I paid £55 for an awful lunch.

Our server (gentleman with a beard) was lovely - extremely polite, professional and great at his job.

It was the food and drinks that let the place down.

We firstly had an aperol spritz served in a small wine glass. I think I got about 3 swigs out of it as it was full of ice and I paid £9.75 for it. They are served usually in a much larger glass - it's always been the same.9

We then got a platter - nachos where dry with hardly any cheese. I asked for some more cheese so our waiter brought out more. The sour cream and salsa was just a small dollop in the middle leaving 3/4 of the nachos dry.

The popcorn had zero taste. The chicken was tasteless and had a bit of yoghurt in the bottom of the bowl.

The sausages where really tasty and the calamari was ok. Extremely overpriced at £20.

The Mac and cheese wasn't made fresh. It seemed like a microwaved bowl. Marmite leeks where tasty but it didn't have a crust cheese on the top like it was described and it didn't come with garlic bread. It came with an untoasted white baguette. Very cheap Man c Cheese - nothing like its description unfortunately.

The place is beautiful, great views and we had a nice hour sat with a drink but the food was worse then a cheap pub lunch. It's a shame but will only return to have a nice drink in the sun.

User

This for the first time in ages I have been to pitch and piano was shocked how bad the service was. Firstly the downstairs bar was closed at 6pm on payday Friday. They only had 2 staff working on the small bar upstairs where I queued for over 20mins. I asked for 15 bottle of fizz advertised on all the leaflets. They informed that it was the wrong type of processco and they do not stock it. The manager was rude why I said you need to sells things if advertised. Service was awful.

User

The food was great. The service was slow, the food delivered was wrong. The starter didn't arrive, until the main course did. We asked for a second plate, this took over half an hour to arrive. So we ended up eating in shifts. Good place let down by poorly trained staff

User

Nice Terrace but Terrible service and appalling food.

User

Great location, ridiculously priced and silly portions. A double sips smiths and tonic costs £12.20 (£9.70 for 50ml of tonic). Ordered the fish and chips which came with about 7 chips hidden underneath the fish with a shot sized container holding the mushy peas and Tartar sauce.

User

Would not recommend it. Understaffed and the staff that is there looks under tremendous pressure although they are friendly.

Ordered a club sandwich which barely had any fillings. Basically just 3 slices of bread for £9.50 with cost price of 50p. Left the place hungry.

User

So disappointed with our visit to the Pitcher and Piano in Richmond today. I wanted to treat my two children to lunch before we went home. Not a good start as the staff didn't open the pub at 12 o clock as advertised so we were left waiting outside. Once inside , we asked the waiter to take our order after about 10 minutes, but we were told the kitchen was closed for the next 30 minutes as the chefs were getting prepared. Why give us menus in the first place?! Unfortunately we had to leave unfed, as we didn't have time to wait for the kitchen to reopen, before we had to get back to the carpark. Very disappointing service

User

Sat at a table that had been empty for 1 and a half hours when we arrived. (Said reserved 5pm, we went at 6.30pm). There were over 6 tables reserved outside for the same name, and then the entire inside also reserved for them. And, upstairs was not open! So we sat at the 10 seat corner table, we were asks to move when about 15 people showed up to use over 50+ seats that had been empty for that time. These people were already sitting in the reserved area with nobody looking to sit down. We argued our case that there was around 15/20 of us and not a single free area as they were all EMPTY but RESERVED, could we not stay in the corner seat. The party next to us did not mind us having a table of theirs as their party was small.

We continued to order drinks and enjoy ourselves. Until we tried to order food. I asked a waiter, Cliff, if he could take our order. He said "one moment" and never returned. Then I went inside and asked and they told me it was table service they would send someone out, I told them exactly where we were sat. Ten minutes passed, still nothing. So a friend went and asked if we could order and was told "no because you stole the seats". If you had a problem with this then do not allow us to sit there and drink, tell us and we will take our money elsewhere. Do not refuse to serve us food or even worse pretend you're going to serve us then not appear! Appalling.

I have never experienced service like this! The whole time we were there we were very politely ignored by all floor staff outside but the bar staff inside were more than happy to serve us!

No stars. Not even one.

User
