Last night at auction the Macallan cask did not hit its reserve. We will proceed to bottle the cask at cask strength and sell the bottles. This will bring a higher return. Thank you for your patience.

For anyone that wants to follow the Macallan Cask it’s being auctioned on “Just Whisky” finishes on the 16th June. If it does not reach its auction reserve we will consider other options to get the most we can for the cask. Bottling or potentially buying back your fractions at a profit for you.

New casks added to the Platinum Cask website.
Today we have added Three very exciting casks to the website. New to our Gold membership level we have an almost 10-year-old Ardlair from 2009 and in our Platinum Cask level, we have two T-Spooned malts with the unusual names Burnside and Wardhead.
Ardlair is a rarely produced, unpeated single malt whisky from the Ardmore distillery, nicknamed ‘Ardless’ by the distillery staff themselves. Built-in 1898 Ardmore is owned and operate...d by Beam Suntory and is located in Aberdeenshire in the Highlands of Scotland. The distillery was built to produce whisky for the Teachers Highland Cream blend, of which it remains a primary whisky in the blend.
Burnside is a Tea-spooned malt or a blended malt made from 99.9% Balvenie and 0.01% Glenfiddich ( A tea spoon full ). The Balvenie Distillery pronounced "bal-vaynee" is owned by William Grant & Sons. and is located next to their other famous Speyside distillery the Glenfiddich Distillery. The Balvenie Distillery was established in 1892 making it 6 years younger than it neighbour Glenfiddich that was established in 1886. Although Balvenie is younger and much smaller than Glenfiddich it still has one attribute that Glenfiddich doesn't. Balvenie is one out of a very small number of distilleries that still has its own malting floor, allowing it much more control over the production of their Whisky.
Wardhead is a Tea-spooned malt or a blended malt made from 99.9% Glenfiddich and 0.01% Balvenie ( A tea spoon full ). The Glenfiddich Distillery is owned by William Grant & Sons. and is located next to their other famous Speyside distillery The Balvenie Distillery. Glenfiddich means "valley of the deer" in Scottish Gaelic, which is why the Glenfiddich logo is a stag. Glenfiddich are often credited for creating the modern single malt whisky category due to their marketing efforts in the 1970s to push single malt as a premium product.

We have just bottled the JURA cask and will start the sale of the bottles as soon as the labels have gone on. We ended up with 188 bottles of 25yr old JURA.
The Macallan cask is on the move, we are moving it out of Macallan to our duty rep so we can either Auction it or bottle it.
... We have just bought 6 new casks. Watch this space for them hitting the cask space.
I can tell you that there is a 21 year old Wardhead and a 24 year old Burnside in the mix.

Tamnavulin have released a triple sherried malt. . The second NAS (no-age-statement) whisky from Tamnavulin is called "The Sherry Cask Edition". . This expression has been matured in American oak barrels before being finished in three different Spain's Oloroso Sherry casks.... . Bottled at 40%ABV, special size 1-litre bottles are now available at Tesco stores in the UK for £45 and the regular size 700ml bottle will be available for £32 each in the UK within the year. . --- . As with many whiskies, we expect the price of this whisky from Tamnavulin to rise over time. . Take whisky from Bladnoch as an example; a 700ml bottle of Bladnoch 1977 Rare Malt 23-year-old was sold for £120 on the 8th of August 2016 at WhiskyAuctioneer online auction, almost a year later, this limited edition whisky fetched £395 on the 3rd of July 2017. With the addition of 10% commission by the auctioneer, the final sum paid would have been £434, an increase at £302 which is more than 228% greater than the price in 2016. . Glenmorangie have released a new take on their Quinta Ruban port finish expression. . Matured in American white oak casks for 10 years then being finished in ruby Port pipes for more four years, this edition was bottled 46%ABV. . This new release bottled at 14 years old replaces the existing 12 years old in a move that is said to "emphasise the flavour" of the whisky... . Quinta Ruban 14-Year-Old will be available at the same price as the 12-year-old for around £45 each. . --- . As with many limited edition whiskies, we expect the price of this whisky from Glenmorangie to rise over time. . Take Glenmorangie 1978 Pride as an example; it was £1,600 for a 1 litre bottle in March of 2016 at WhiskyAuctioneer an online auction. With the addition of 10% commission by the auctioneer, the final sum could be £1,760. In June 2018, this limited edition whisky was sold at WhiskyAuctioneer for £5,488. With the addition of 10% commission by the auctioneer, the final sum could be £6,036, this shows £4,276 rise which is more than 242% of its hammer price in 2016. . Another Macallan Edition No.2 added to the Fah Mai Holdings Rare Whisky Collection . Macallan Edition series was started back in 2015 with Edition No 1. The series was designed to focus on the Macallan ageing process and characteristics of the different barrel cask types they use during maturation. . Edition No 2 was released in 2016 produced from a combination of four different European and American oak cask types and featured a collaboration between Master Whisky Maker Bob ...Dalgarno and El Celler de Can Roca, Restaurant magazine two times winner of 'Best Restaurant in the World'. . The collaboration saw the team select four different cask types using their individual experiences and preferences, that were then blended to create the Edition No2 release. . Macallan Edition No.2 was sold at WhiskyAuctioneer an online auction for £65 a bottle on the 3rd of April 2017, then another bottle of this edition fetched £220 on the 5th of November 2018. With the addition of 10% commission by the auctioneer, the final sum could be £242, this shows £170 rise which is more than 236% of the hammer price in 2017. .
