I believe that playing guitar (or any music) should be fun, and the sooner you can make a noise resembling music, the more likely you are to stick at it and improve.

These days there is a wealth of guitar playing information on the internet, some of it very good, some of it quite expensive, but none of it can provide the individual guidance and feedback that is essential for learning quickly and efficiently, keeping you interested and motivated, and avoiding the difficult-to-break bad habits.

I don't teach, what for many people is, boring theory or how to read old-fashioned music. My sessions are practical and fun. Instead of reading traditional music, we will learn how to interpret the much simpler tablature (TAB) and chord notations that will allow you to play using the thousands of transcripts that are freely available on the internet.

I teach beginners any age, I don't care whether you're 8 or 80, as long as you love music and are up for some fun. We'll learnt o play music you enjoy at a pace that suits you (and the amount of time you have - or don't have - to rehearse). But unlike learning an instrument the old fashioned way, you will actually WANT to practice at home and improve because it will be fun! No boring scales, just the music you love!

Sessions can be 1 /2 hour or 1 hour (preferred) and are usually one to one but I am also happy to take small groups. I usually teach at home (in Needham Market) or can come to you if you prefer. If parents are bringing children they are welcome to wait, or even sit in on the session (although this can often put youngsters off). I ma fully CRB checked by the way.
