Playbox Theatre

Pre-school Playbox is growing! We will be opening a number of brand new workshops for 3-4 years olds this season and can't wait to tell you about them. January is also the perfect time to sign your little one up for our wonderful EARLY STAGERS workshops, running every Weds, Thurs and Fri at The Dream Factory...and be the first to hear about the new sessions we're soon to be launching. We were very pleased to be joined by Deputy Mayor, Councillor Neale Murphy, during the Christmas run of The Snow Queen and delighted by the ongoing support that Warwick District Council offers to Playbox Theatre. Can you spot Neale amongst the cast here?!

What a difference a day makes! Total turn-around of the The Dream Factory this week as we say 'farewell' to Christmas and prepare to transform into a film studio as we welcome the awesome Dust House who are shooting 'The Snatcher' at our theatre over the next week. So exciting!

We loved seeing SO many Playbox alumni over Christmas, spanning the company's 32 year history. Hannah Elsy was with us for years and years and we're so proud of the work she is now doing as a Theatre Producer. Here's a bit of news about what she's been getting up to...
Currently, she is producing a South West tour of Queen C*** Sacred or Profane, a feminist sketch show, playing in London in Spring.
Hannah has booked the world premiere 21 venue U.K. tour of new writing piece ...The Shy Manifesto, which is hitting the road in January- tour including a sold-out workshop at Playbox.
She is starting a new job at the @oldvictheatre in the new year.

Wow! What a year it has been...Starry Nights, Midsummer Night's Dream, Charlie & Choc, Mustardseed, Monkey, Catching Flies, Canterbury Tales, Martyr, Snow Queen, Six, workshops, masterclasses, USA tour, holiday workshops, new courses, birthday parties, amazing alumni, members on stage and on screen, new road, funding applications...and so much more. There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe the quality of teaching, directing and support that Playbox provides to every single member throughout their Playbox journey. Playbox inspires fresh, intelligent, daring and beautiful theatre making with outstanding energy, enthusiasm and passion. I am proud to say that without Playbox, I would not be who I am today. ­¤Æ£

Saw Peter Pan yesterday - superb performances all round and the staging was top notch. Well done to all involved whether you were Peter Pan or the man in the roof dangling the kite down! Great start to 2015 and the kids loved it.

Playbox is the most wonderful place to grow up and the only thing I ever stuck to. From the age of three to eighteen I was lucky enough to be involved in a company that encourages young people to realise their valuable place in the world and to use their minds to be inquisitive and daring in how they approach it. During my time at Playbox, I developed a sense of self that was continually nurtured in workshops, allowing me to leave with confidence and some amazing, like-minded friends.

It is the perfect place to be young x

Playbox is my home from home. Its like a 2nd family to me and is simply wonderful in every way!

Playbox gave me a home though those awkward years of adolescence. The confidence I gained as a member since age seven, and as a staff member during my GAP year was invaluable and I made life long friends who I see and work with to this day. I would not have gotten into Rose Bruford College and then Royal Central School of Speech and Drama had it not been for my time a Playbox.

Special mention goes to the casts and crew of The Revengers Tragedy Midsummer Nights Dream, Comedy of Errors, The Tempest, HAIR the Musical and The Pied Piper to name but a few.

Playbox Theatre gave me the best friends in the world, skills for life and an opportunity to do what I love. Thank you.

On Shakespeare birthday Henry VI revisited as Games and Thrones was amazing, very well done everyone!!!

My daughter loves it here, great workshops during the holidays and we also recently had my daughter's 6th birthday party at playbox, was fantastic!

My daughter has just had the most amazing Cinderella princess party! Thank you so much to Polly and the girls for making it a birthday to remember. Being greeted by Cinderella in a beautiful gown and the fairy godmother was very exciting. The games were fab with great prizes. The party food was laid out beautifully and so colourful and really sweet climbing through Alice in wonderlands door to get to it. The Face painting was great the girls looked lovely.

Really well managed and attention to detail was great. Worth every penny. Would definitely recommend as a party venue. Thank you.

My 2 year old sat good as gold completely amazed with Alice.. We will definitely be returning ­¤É░

Life Raft is the most powerful and moving drama I have seen for a long time. Playbox should be so proud of themselves. Every aspect of the production works so well to create an intensely emotional performance. Amazing.

Last Sunday Polly and Emma took my 6 year old daughter and her friends to a fairy tale adventure where the snow glows white on the mountain each night! An experience to remember for years to come! Thanks for a fantastic frozen party girls!

Just returned home from Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. As a massive Alice fan, I couldn't have enjoyed this more! It surprised me in all the best ways - thank you so much Playbox and best of luck for the remainder of the run!

Ive just got home from watching your outstanding performance and adaptation of The Lion The Witch & The Wardrobe. In one word the cast were all Excellant. The story was told well and brought to reality by amazing lighting and sound. I shall endavour to come and see more from a great talented company. Cheers Kevin Stanley. Well done all of you.

I was completely wayward until I had the guidance and influence of Playbox staff and the friends I made when I was there. Genuinely changed my life for the better and had it not been for them I wouldn't be who I am today. Can't say enough for Playbox.
