About Playhouse Weston
Located in the centre of Weston-super-Mare the Playhouse is a friendly and welcoming 664-seat theatre which offers a lively and diverse programme of events including music, drama, comedy, dance, musicals, film, children’s shows and pantomime.
Playhouse Weston Description
The Playhouse is a 664 seat theatre in Weston-super-Mare, England that hosts a largely entertainment based programme of shows all year round including opera, ballet, comedy, music and pantomime performances.
The Playhouse Theatre is available for hire for both community and professional shows and as a venue for conferences, meetings and corporate events. In addition to the main auditorium the theatres facilities include a licensed bar, meeting and rehearsal spaces and full disabled access.
Our dedicated and professional staff are used to working with all visiting companies and hirers to ensure a successful event while our welcoming and caring front of house team ensure patrons an enjoyable entertainment experience.
The Playhouse Theatre is managed by Parkwood Theatres working in partnership with North Somerset Council.
History:
In 1946, an old market building, designed by local architect Hans Price, was converted into a 500 seat theatre. For the next 18 years this theatre, The Playhouse, provided the town with a great variety of entertainment and played host to stars including Frankie Howerd, Bob Monkhouse and Ken Dodd.
The theatre was destroyed by fire on 21 August 1964 and the remains had to be demolished.
In 1969, a new theatre costing £230, 000 opened and has been in continuous use ever since.

The band is very proud to be widely recognized by fans, music critics and venue owners, to be the very best at what they do. For the masses of Guns N' Roses fans, UK Guns N’ Roses are also regarded as a very real alternative to the now reformed Guns N Roses. Many believe the band to be as close as you will ever get to seeing the original GN'R live and some even rate this tribute to be better than the real thing.

Wonderful theatre and staff! So attentive when we attended with our daughter for her very first pantomime, Aladdin. Our daughter has additional needs and is in a wheelchair so trying new experiences can be challenging but not at this venue. It has great access and seats with a space for her wheelchair. We all had a great experience from start to finish and would thoroughly recommend Aladdin, it’s was hilarious!!
We’ve been to a number of Pantos and I have to say, this is the best one ever! Well done everyone!!
Went to see Our House and was absolutely amazing high energy fun laughs and tears along the way. If you get the chance go and see it you won't be disappointed
Went to opening night of Peter Pan last night. Was absolutely amazed at how fab it was. The actors and dancers were fabulous, the special effects amazing, and the whole production was brilliant.
It's til about the 4th Jan, so if you haven't got tickets yet I would recommend you get down there coz you're in for a treat.
We went to see the pantomime Aladdin, it's hilarious! Both my daughters loved it, especially my 5 year old who barely sat still for the whole show. There's plenty of laughs, audience interaction, and sing along songs. The highlight for me was the genie, but all the actors are brilliant, and this is one of my favourite pantomime experiences ever! Highly recommend
We went to 'Gangsta Granny' on Friday morning. Brilliant production: so funny and so poignant. Excellent cast and fantastic set. Have to mention too the brilliant staff at the Playhouse: so kind and yet not patronising to my mum who is now in a wheelchair - Perfect morning for 3 generations of our family. Thank you!
Watched Aladdin 3 times this month & every time was superb! Fab theatre & staff. The pantomime was the best pantomime I’ve ever seen. Was funny, entertaining & the dancing was amazing. I did have a favourite in the show... but sorry guys it has to be my beautiful girl ‘Hollie’ (one of your dancers)... she made me so proud & I was in awe of her dancing! Thanks everyone for the opportunity & I wish you all the best for 2018... I’ll defo be back to see Swan lake in May � x
Visited this morning with my 2 daughters, hubby and mum to watch the Panto and we all loved it! Have visited for the last 4 years and this years was the best yet!

Went to the pantomime last night and WOW WOW WOW it was amazing, in fact the best pantomime you have ever put on! From start to finish it was a great story, funny, entertaining, amazing scenery, costumes, flying carpet (outstanding) and the cast were fantastic, loved John Altman. The apple watch was just hilarious and getting soaked was pretty funny too! Thank you Weston Playhouse.
The playhouse is a lovely smaller venue with helpful staff and a wide variety of performances. We particularly enjoyed the pantomime this year.
Playhouse in weston-super-mare is really the place to go and see magnificent shows ,plays etc ,comfortable seating ,friendly helpful staff ,don't need to go to London to see top shows when you can go to the playhouse, it's just simply the best .
Nik loves this theatre so much it has become part of his journey of returning his voice.We think the staff the set up the performances the support for all of our schools goes beyond the most highest quality with an inclusive celebration of all our differences.)just as NIk likes it.
Nik performed back in March and felt just at home ..he never performed singing before .Never know one day he might be there again doing a solo this time.)take care love to this beautiful place dear to our hearts.x
Just watched the pantomime Aladdin at the Weston Playhouse. Singing, scenery, costumes, humour, special effects and music all brilliant. Not that I'm biased because my son in law plays the keyboard in the production but it was a great show.
Just been to the Weston playhouse to see Blood brothers, absolutely fantastic, seen the show before a number of times, but never in Weston, all that changed tonight though. Thank you for putting on such a spectacular show here in my home town. Brilliant.
