We've been to PTMY several times before, but only for drinks prior to going to nearby comedy or the theatre, myself and a mate had lunch on Monday, wow, what a fantastic food discovery this was, everything! and I mean everything was superb, from the presentation of the food, the freshness of the ingredients, and the vibrant colours, especially the buttered root vegetables, friendly and efficient staff, to the cool background music, I've read some of the previous reviews, and it's apparent some people haven't enjoyed the same experience as we did, and at the risk of sounding like I've a connection to the place, I can 100% guarantee we've not, we will be certainly be returning for food, great value for money £15 three courses

and to top it off they've got my favourite bottled beer ' Old Engine Oil' on Drought! What's not to like? JMS

User

Super friendly staff, amazing food (the lunch time deal runs until 7pm and was incredible value for good, fresh food in big portions) and a really impressive back bar.

Great for gins but lots of other choices. Decorations were fab.

User

Passed by this place last night with my mam and friends, and loved the look of the place, we decided to have our meal here and it was amazing, am still dreaming of the cheese board, never thought I would love Stilton and truffle honey so much, then had a roast chicken dinner that was to die for, we were absolutely stuffed, spent about 24 pound each, I will definitely be back, have that truffle oil or honey soon, we never did try the gin bar ne t door it was really busy, but no noise came through the restaurant, staff were fantastic xx

User

My partner and I thoroughly enjoyed our meal. We shared the Mezze to start and then shared half chicken with thrice fried chips and some veg. I had red wine sauce whilst Emma had the cheesey sauce. We can honestly say.....it was beautiful, cant fault the place one bit. Staff are lovely, food is amazing and the decor is tasteful. Cheers everyone, we'll be back!!

User

My favourite bar in Newcastle by far!! Ever brilliant range of Beers, Ales & Lagers. Not to mention the spirits range & one of my favourite cocktails, The Mary Phillips. As fantastic as it tastes, it is named after my Auntie Mary, couldn’t be a better pairing!!

Besides that, a great ambience, a place I can spend great deal of time in, always great music playing to match the great drinks. All round great place!!!

User

Had my daughter’s 21st last night in the Viceroy private function room. Absolutely brilliant night - helpful, friendly staff, fab food. Thank you so much for making her night such a special occasion

User

Great music and drinks. Very good service, made such an effort to make our special occasion extra special. Food was perfect! X

User

Came here for our 15th wedding anniversary and the Afternoon tea was amazing staff were very friendly and helpful

User

Went after a Mother’s Day afternoon tea in 23rd March (with Mother lol). Had a few lovely Pornstar Martini’s and they were delicious, But buy one get on free was even better. We ordered Olives and Bread, and Hummus with Pitta bread for a little snack. Service was good and friendly. Unfortunately had no Olives n bread so we opted for Onion rings. They were big and tasty although the sea salt helped a lot. I like YOLO Townhouse. Much better and less pretentious than the Ponteland branch. I’ll be back for more Martinis and hopefully Olives? Please?

User

Well, strarted badly with a dirty glass and wrong drink. However, the waitress very prompt to rectify. Food for all three in this party the food was superbly presented and delicious!

I can’t wait to go again next weekend.

User

My boyfriend and I just went for a few drinks and we thought it was really nice. It was a Monday night so not too busy but still a few in. The service was great. I’ve recently just started drinking gin and don’t know much about it. The lad behind the bar was great and asked me what flavours I liked and he recommended some nice gins. They went down a treat! They had the small tables at the patio doors which were open. It was a nice summers night so it was good to chill out and watch the world go by. Shame about the multiple tramps who kept doing rounds asking for change tho! (Obviously this isn’t the bars fault) it’s not my favourite bar in Newcastle but I would go back.

User

Love this place! We re from Leeds and ensure we visit each time in Newcastle.Cracking music(brilliant DJ Sat 24/11) ,fantastic ambience.U always know u ll have a great night .

User

Has a nice atmosphere. Food was good and friendly staff. I went for dinner on a Sat night with my daughter who’s at Newcastle uni. It was packed and lively with quite loud upbeat music. The adjoining bar is like a Club. She said it’s quieter in the week. So it depends what you want. Upbeat and lively yes. Quiet and calm not. But it is nice...

User

Start off on dull note shall I. Ate hear tonight when we got there there was only one table accupied which we thought great ,service would be prompt, but it was not . Waited at least 15 mins just for a Diet Coke. While waiting and getting bored can’t help but wonder what is taking so long three staff at least can be seen, what was worse was one female member of staff played with her hair again and again flipped her head forward shook her hair gathered it to put up then did not , did it again put it in a bun style , then again took it out and did it again all in view of the customers next to the tables, did this employee not do her basic hygiene required to work in such an establishment, at this point I was ready to leave, said to my members on my table that if this girl brings my food out to me I will be refusing to eat it , not once did I see her wash her hands after faffing with her hair time and time again. On a positive the food was delicious but took over 45 mins to arrive, I will not be eating at this establishment again , and lessons should be learned , if I were the health inspectors or food critic you would be in hot water .

User

It was fantastic food, but the customer service from what seemed to be the manager was appalling. Was told we only had 20 minutes until the next table would be seated where we were currently sat so you can imagine we felt rather rushed, not to mention we only ordered a main course, no starters. We were slightly annoyed by this, but was even more taken aback by the fact she came back with an attitude towards customers who would have potentially come back numerous of times. As a waitress myself, I was shocked by her response and would never react in this way. Furthermore, me and another member of my group had to wait 20 minutes for our drinks. It seems they had forgot as we had to ask them a second time. It was my mums birthday as well and we had booked over a week in advance, it really dampened the mood and celebrations. I must say one of the other girls working was lovely and apologetic on her behalf.

User

I go here almost every Sunday for a couple of drinks and then the Sunday Roast which is amongst the best in the toon and normally could not speak highly enough of the place, but the last few Sunday’s the bar service has been appalling, waiting 15 to 20 minuets each time for a couple of pints. The place was not busy at all it’s just they did not have enough staff on and it takes them so long to make the fancy cocktails. I had a word with the bar manager and she said it was down to a reduction in the amount of staff she can have on a Sunday. This is a real shame as I love this place but if this continues I will take my trade elsewhere, it’s not as if there is a shortage of great places to eat and drink in Newcastle. Whoever owns this place get your act in order and put enough staff on to provide a level of service commensurate with your high food and drink prices or you will find loyal customers like myself and my girlfriend will find somewhere new to spend our Sunday’s

User

I come here often and normally it’s so good, excellent staff, service, drinks. But on this occasion I have to say that the service and overall experience was piss poor. My bartender, a young boy with a nose ring, during making my order- decided to have a full conversation with another co worker, Which left me waiting on him to decide he wanted to complete my drinks order. I then had to wait over 30 mins for a sharing platter, which lets be honest shouldn’t take that long to prepare a cold meats selection with olives (however it was delicious). Upon coming back to the bar, the same young man served me, bring the blasé attitude with very minimal effort. Whilst In the middle of forfilling my order -which was only a gin and soda which wouldn’t have taken long- he decided to A)take his phone out to go through his messages. And B) give his bloody name and phone number to another guest. (I’m sure she was lovely)

I assume , in an effort to amend his mistake he had tried to explain why he had done that. But I’d already asked for my order to be completed by another bartender. Not impressed.

User

I agree with the previous comments. Surely the remit of a Manageress is to welcome clients. We felt that on this occasion she fell far short of this and complained that the build up to this afternoon's amazing football game was on at all, she couldn't whisk our table away from us soon enough when the match was over leaving us standing with our drink without so much as a please or thank you! Fortunately, the other staff were great and tried their utmost to make this special occasion a good one. Also a lovely crowd of people watching the match this afternoon and overall the experience was a good one. Ironic that this bar is named 'Please to Meet you' Well done England!!! Pleased to meet you one member of your team could try harder.

User

Great bar except for the dj 3 times we requested a record and still he never played it. Was only interested in the music he enjoyed
