What a fab bar , food was sooo good , staff really friendly, nothing was too much trouble , they got our party a birthday ballon and banner , thank you guys , just incase we didn't mention it on the night x, wouldn't hesitate to recommend plonkers X

The food was awesome! We had a chicken and a steak hanging kebab with chips, followed by a huge jam roly poly with custard and chocolate fudge sundae!



A few Kraken dark rums, Tiger beer and white wine & lemonade for the wife... Brilliant night! We only wish we'd registered for the Pub Quiz as we got most of the questions right! �

Such friendly welcoming staff invited us in from the rain with our dog . Great food and speciality gins ! Was my birthday and they brought me a lovely piece of lemon cake complete with candle . Who could ask for more ? Will be back .

Struggled to find a place in York that served food and let our 13 year old in with our Labrador Katie.

Plonkers were amazing. Gave us a seat by the window, water for the dog and quick service for food and drink. Meal was amazing. Kids fish and chips were great value and tasted yummy. Staff were friendly, attentive and a lovely warm welcome.

Lovely place by the river. Yery well presented inside and very clean. We had Fish cakes which were delicious � and also had cheese platter which was lovely also. Staff were friendly and efficient. Would recommend.

Lovely bar tucked away up side street. Staff are very friendly and accommodating 😀 Food was gorgeous too!

Lovely bar found it by chance,had a few pints and a meal with the wifey. Smart interior and looked classy. Staff very pleasant and helpful,give it a whirl you won't regret it.

Had a great day in York with my daughter and had lunch at Plonkers. Lovely to sit by the river and was served by a friendly waiter. Food was really tasty and hot even though it had to be brought down to riverside. They were busy but we received our order efficiently. Definately will come again when in York.

Always a friendly bar, every time I come to the opera house it is a place I put number one on my list, and when there is a break in the event at the opera house I pop back in for a quick pint been many times now and never had a problem and always friendly

After an amazing day food was needed and with 2 children a lot of places won't let you in over the weekend but the staff were amazing finding a table for 4 adults, a 7 year old and a 1 year old and everything that comes with them the food was amazing and big portions it was great a must for anyone visiting York

Popped in for dinner before the ghost walk, service was friendly and quick, nachos were lovely, I had fish and chips which was great, proper home made chips but my partner had the hanging steak kebab and the meat was terribly chewy and dry, was a let down.

Such a shame.

Brought two friends after visiting the dungeon because I said what a lovely place this was.

We ordered a sandwich, baked Camembert and chips.

But after being given the wrong sandwich 2 times it kind of takes the cake.

I ordered baked Camembert with bread and chilli jam. Came with no jam so basically got a runny cheese sandwich?

The only reason I give two stars is we were given one free drink and given the cash back for the incorrect sandwich.

Really disappointed..

Tried to ordered two different bottles of white wine neither was chilled. Very poor service. Disappointing after hearing good reviews we won't be hurrying back

The only thing missing from the bar staff was balaclava's with prices of the drinks, I had to go outside to make sure I'd not wandered into some kind of portal to London or Milan at the bar prices, nearly £12 for 2 beers, went down next street same drinks £6.50

I also not sure if it's the landlady or not, but the staff seem to have had some kind of sense of humour bypass? can't understand why they must be laughing all the way to the bank.
