We love going to the Plug and Feather. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The food is of a very high standard.

We haven't been in a year . Popped in on way home. Had sirloin steak meal . Best steak I've eaten in a long time. Chips are thick chunky chips (I had jacket potatoe) kids meals are good price and plenty for our 7yr old. Clean and nice atmosphere. Friendly staff and Manager . Highly recommended for a pub meal .

User

Very nice food and the prices was about the norm , first time I’ve been in there since it’s refit and it has very nice decor which is very welcoming, staff was very friendly and food arrived very quickly and was nice and hot , beer was cold as ice so overall a very good experience and will go there again

User

This is our 3rd visit every time the staff have been very friendly and helpful and the food has allways been exceptional quality and have never had to wait too long either the atmosphere and decoration is great and the choice of the menu is amazing catering for most tastes we shall certainly visit often

User

So we arrived at 6.30 and it looked pretty busy and we expected a delay but our food arrive in a very short time..my steak was cooked perfect as usual..my partners mixed grill looked lovely..think the sausages are new and tasted very good..i had a prosecco in a cute little bottle which was lovely..love how they have toothpicks on the bar too for those annoying little bits of meat that sometimes get stuck. The waitresses are very quick to take orders and clear plates..the only thing was no one came over and checked our meal was ok but we had no complaints x

User

I came to the pub tonight had a meal the food was lovely but not as nice as the waitress if I remember right her name was Kerry she was very kind and helpful she made sure that I had everything I needed and she even had a chat and a laugh with me.I would like to thank Kerry as she made having a meal there a pleasant experience and I will be definitely be returning very soon.

First time been for a meal this evening and was lovely good price nice staff and delicious food

User

Called in on spec and very pleasantly suprised . Despite being quite busy we only waited around twenty minutes for our food which was all lovely ... tasty, well cooked and plentiful. The deserts were delicious and huge!!! The staff were all lovely, polite, efficient and couldn't do enough to help. Would highly recommended ... In a world of very average pub grub this place is a delight and well worth a visit .

User

Beautiful place. Good hot food and plenty of it. Will be returning soon.

Arrived about 4 o'clock Wednesday afternoon after a lovely day at Hardwick hall this place was recommended to us while we was in Hardwick. I can't fault the plug and feather the choice of drinks is excellent I had a large shiraz after being told malbec is only servered by the bottle, which I expected then decided on the veggie burger which was lovely the lady behind the bar was extremely friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble she looked and seemed truly happy to be at work I can't remember her name but she is a credit to your company.

Myself & my friend have met here several times as it is part way between our homes. We usually find the food & service good & have enjoyed the festive fayre at Christmas time! Unfortunately we had some issues when we visited this week. When we arrived at 7.30 we were told food was only being served until 8.30. We had a main meal. At 8.30 the staff started turning off the music, locking doors etc making us feel like we were being asked to leave. They locked the door behind us just after 8.30. Such a shame as we would normally consider a dessert & they also missed out on business as people arrived just afterwards. We will now have to think twice about whether we visit again as we prefer to not be rushed & take our time over a meal!

Called in for lunch after visiting nearby Hardwick Hall. I ordered the pie and my partner had gammon. Both meals were really quite good and well presented by friendly bar staff. The beer was good and the prices overall were excellent so far as pub lunches go. The place was clean and had a pleasant atmosphere.

On the down side I have to say that the chips were'nt as good as they should have been. They arrived dried up and looked and tasted as if they had been kept on the warming shelf for far too long. They should have been throw away and fresh ones served. ... ... Just a shame that they were so bad. The annoying thing is that someone in the kitchen obviously knew that before they were served up.

Otherwise there was nothing at all to complain about ! ...... "Could" have been 4 stars.

I will go back again and give this place another try !

Visited today as we remembered visiting a few years ago and didn't get round to going back, my husband had pie, myself and the kids had Sunday roast. The pie didn't seem bad, but I couldn't find one thing that wasnt a micro meal. Rubber watery veg, packet cheese sauce... oh, mabe that didn't go in the microwave? Left over Turkey because everyone else must know how bad the food is so didn't go over Christmas, cheap cardboard yorkies, water for gravy and crusty top mash (from the microwave or from being stood for hours I dread to think) as my husband went to pay, he was asked if everything was ok, he said no I wasnt happy, she said oh sorry about that, bye!

Needless to say, we won't be going back. Should have taken the empty car park as a sign.

User

The place was pleasant, the staff were lovely but the food was dreadful. I know it's very much a case of you get what you pay for, but to simply get a burger that wrong has got to say something about the chefs and quality of ingredients being purchased. The chips tasted like the oil had not been changed in quite some time.

Went here on Saturday after a group dog walk on the Stockley trail.

Being in a group we visit many pubs when we do our meets/walks, this is the 1st time in years i have come across a pub situated on the edge of a walk which does not allow dogs in !!

All i can say is you must not want custom, i would not recommend this pub & will not be going there again, i have been told the pub up the road is dog friendly with a good atmosphere clearly something the plug & feather is lacking !!

We recently did a Derbyshire walk from

The Norfolk arms to fox house & back both beautiful pubs, made our dogs very welcome could not do enough for us, the Norfolk arms even has a big jar of dog treats on the bar !! Now thats what i call a service, maybe you should get with the times plug & feather have you not heard "dog is mans best friend" and you expected me to leave my best friend outside by a main road just for the sake of me getting my drink and then sitting outside !!

Poor very poor dog walkers beware & do not waste your time or money here

We visited on Sunday. We had been just before Christmas and although it was very busy the food and service were fantastic. However on our return visit this Sunday it was fairly quiet when we went in, we were seated straight away. We ordered at the bar and after what seemed like forever (over half an hour) our starter arrived. missing the garlic dip for my husbands mushroom so we had to ask. The starters were nice. Then we hit issue after issue. We finished our starters and waited and waited and waited (remember it wasn't busy) our table was finally cleared. I went back to the bar to order more drinks and the girl serving me forgot to put ice in my sons drink even though I'd asked, as she had been too busy talking to a colleague. About 30 minutes later our main course arrived. Missing my side order of chips. The beer battered fish and chips ordered by both sons (the eldest being 26 and has catering qualifications ) were apparently bland dry and not nice at all (apparently it tasted frozen) with a spoonful of mushy peas and about 6 chips each! my macaroni cheese was again probably a 99p Tesco frozen meal it was watery and rubbery, clearly microwaved. (I'd had this on my previous visit and it had been very nice proper cheesy and creamy). So we decided not to have pudding and just pay and leave. Whilst all this was going on a lady on the next table had to ask where here onion rings were that came with the meal. Someone else complained there food was cold and my younger son actually witnessed them taking it into the kitchen and putting the whole lot in the microwave!!! At this point my eldest, who is also trained in food hygiene, went a funny shade of white, so we paid and left. Outside my youngest said that as we were leaving the same table were complaining about something else. All in all we will not be back nor will we be recommending this place to anyone else. Such a shame.

We arrived on spec and were told that they were busy and a wait if half an hour which we expected with not booking and a table of 5 people. Placed orders and starter came after around 30 mins - minus one starter which we had to chase up . Delay in picking up empties and main meal arriving but not at all busy as we expected with large tables empty . Mains arrived and mixed grill / steak all over cooked with sausages black and fried egg like rubber . The other meals were no better . Order sweet and again had to chase order after half an hour and by this time 3pm the place was quiet . Not a great experience and young waitress very loud and patronisingly nice ... sounds odd but she was way over the top when we complained . Needless to say won't be visiting again which is a pity as close for my mum . Disappointed .
