Plymouth Miniature Steam Description

A record of model engineering in Plymouth dates back to 1947, but it was in the late 1960’s that the foundation of Plymouth Miniature Steam (PMS) was established. A raised track in Plymouth Central Park was operated in the 1970’s, but the present home of “Goodwin Park” was formally opened at Easter 1990. The land is leased from Plymouth City Council and is part of a designated nature reserve with a ground level track for 3 1 /2”, 5” and 7 1 /4” gauge locomotives; this is arranged as a dual circuit track over different levels of approximately 1 /2 mile in length.

Now for some Exciting news. Plymouth Miniature Steam is going to be at the Plym Valley Railway for their Heritage Transport Weekend, 13th and 14th July, that's THIS weekend!
Steam engine "Fred" and diesel engine "Shirley" will be running passenger trains at the Marsh Mills station alongside locomotives from the Plym Valley Miniature Railway.

Now onto some GOOD news. After a couple months work, our level crossing is BACK! it will now allow easy access to our large CAR PARK for any vehicle, which will avoid the need to park outside the railway on grass verges and the like. just follow the blue sign at the bridge and GIVE WAY for the trains as it is a ungated level crossing.

Hello passengers. Today is BIG NEWS day.
First in some unfortunate news, but untill further notice, steam engine "Hernia" will no longer be running until critical repairs have been made to her cylinders and piston rods.

Looking for something else to do in July, how about the Plym Valley's event on the 2nd weekend of July..
Might even be a Green steam engine and a Red steam engine taking passengers there.... 🤭

User

Thanks for coming today. Now for the rare 2 week break before running again on the 7th July.
So as a reminder, no trains next Sunday AND the following Sunday.

Full steam ahead!

We have managed to coax Fred out of the tunnel with a cup of tea. It has nothing to do with Bob the diesel pushing from behind.

"I'm not coming out"
