About Pompey Dsa

Portsmouth FC Disabled Supporters Assosication working proudly along side Portsmouth FC and Level Playing Field Giving the disabled a voice in our community football club

Pompey Dsa Description

The Portsmouth FC Disabled Supporters Association (Pompey DSA) was formed in 2013 to help achieve certain aims for every disabled supporter visiting PFC (Portsmouth Football Club).

These aims include being a voice for supporters of all disability groups. Working alongside Portsmouth FC to improve facilities, inclusion and welfare of all disabled supporters. Also enriching lives of disabled people through sport, social inclusion and raising disability awareness.

Our Membership (£10 annual fee) is open to all disabled fans as well as non disabled fans, carers, family and friends

We meet twice a month in both Portsmouth South and North, based at both Pompey in the community for a Drop in for coffee & chat and Howard Rd Community Centre (Hilsea) along with additional events and trips. (Please see below for more details on monthly meets) We also help provide the Club with equipment and services to help improve the match day experience for ALL.

Pompey DSA are honoured and proud to have Pompey Legend Alan Knight MBE as our ambassador who not only has a shared love for the game and especially Portsmouth FC, Alan also has a clear understanding of how disability can effect us all and those around us after he suffered Sudden Sensorineural Hearing Loss (SSHL).

Alan regularly comes down to our meetings for coffee and chat and some fantastic stories from his former playing days.

We hope you can join us soon at one of our meets or events,

Congratulations to our Girls Development Squads currently on tour in Holland.
Our U15’s crowned Jacada Sports Winners after their 6-0,3-0 & 1-0 victories.
Whilst our U13’s finished runners up having lost their opening game 1-0, the girls responded brilliantly and won 6-1 and 3-2 to secure runners up.
... 🇳🇱

Alexandra Adams has severe visual and hearing impairments but she is determined to become a doctor. The 25-year-old says that she had experienced a lot of discrimination due to her disability with people’s perceptions ring the most disabling http://ow.ly/lpur30oPY9d

The health secretary, Matt Hancock has made the decision that every patient stuck in segregation will be independently reviewed. This comes after a report showing that many vulnerable people were being failed.
"These vulnerable people are too often left alone, away from their families, friends and communities. But a small proportion of some of the most vulnerable in society are being failed by a broken system that doesn’t work for them.”
Lets hope this review actually happens... and action is taken where vulnerable people are placed away from their families and friends.
A number of our callers inform us that their child or loved one are placed miles away from the family because there are not enough placements within their own borough.
If this is something that affects you call our advice line or email us for advice.
