Following in the footsteps of modern New Orleans funk bands such as Galactic and Trombone Shorty, and drawing inspiration from Mardi Gras Indians and classic outfits such as James Brown, The Meters and Rebirth Brass Band, The Big Smoke Family have dedicated themselves to the funky sounds of New Orleans with a unique blend of horns, street beats, scratching and original compositions.
The can regularly be seen playi...ng their residency at Ronnie Scott’s and The Magic Garden or at clubs like, Pizza Express, Hootanany and at Festivals like London Jazz Festival, Bestival and Ealing blues ... and now at Poppies!

On Friday 19th April, Poppies Camden are delighted to welcome Beer Pressure back to the stage for an evening of fantastic tunes!
Beer Pressure is a fun-time function band from the South-East of England on a mission; to make an audience sing & dance! Beer Pressure play a variety of fantastic songs from all eras and decades throwing in a few unexpected tunes for good measure. The band love to mix up the set and are happiest when mixing up old and new tunes as part of the set. Including our own Event Organiser, Tom Knight, on lead vocals and guitar supported by the experienced Paul, Ant & Ben. We are ecstatic to have Beer Pressure play at Poppies.

THE FLISS GORST BAND…….are a dazzling London based band who perform the very best of 1950s rock n’roll, new takes on old classics, authentic swing and jumpin’ jive.
The band are led by Fliss Gorst (Celebrating Bond, My Winehouse, The Fliss Gorst Quartet) and consist of a stellar line up of London’s finest musicians including highly acclaimed vocalists Kai Hoffman, Shane Hampsheir and Lauren Bush.
... Experienced performers, The Fliss Gorst Band have performed on the main stage at Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club, Pizza Express Jazz Club, and regularly at The Spice Of Life Soho. They’ve held a residency at Poppies Fish and Chips Camden since 2013 and perform for countless functions and special events across the country.

The Kevin Hill Jnr Band are going from strength to strength becoming known for excellent musicianship and fantastic vocals. They perform Swing, Soul, Motown and party favourites as well as a few fun musical surprises thrown in too.
Kevin sings from the heart and performs to please with great vocals, smooth patter and slick dance steps. There’ll be music to tap your feet and sing along to while enjoying the best fish n’ chips in England and plenty after to have a boogie and get down to the sound that’s around!

CJ is a vocal performer of the highest calibre, with multiple TV and international performances under his belt. Along with his team of incredible musicians, many satisfied clients have called them “the best wedding band ever”. Particularly known for their ability to get even the least enthusiastic audience up and dancing, CJ and the band are guaranteed to make your event a memory that will last a lifetime.
The band pl...ayed at the London Olympics 2012, performed in front of 20,000 people at the Big Church Day Out 2013 and 2014, and played live on BBC One for Pentacost Live! in 2015 to an estimated 2 million viewers.
CJ was a contestant on The Voice in 2013. His battle-round from that show has now reached more than 3 million views on YouTube.
