Port Of London Authority

The Port of London Authority works to ensure navigational safety along the tidal Thames, sharing its marine, environmental, planning and other expertise to promote use of the river and safeguard its unique marine environment.

At the PLA we oversee operations on the tidal Thames. The 95 miles of river is home to: the UK's second biggest port; busiest inland waterway for passengers and freight; a valued marine environment; and a centre for sports and leisure activities. We work to ensure
navigational safety along the river, sharing our marine, environmental, planning and other expertise to help people make the most of the river in safety.
