The Panthers travelled the short distance to Widnes Moorfield, having lost out narrowly weeks before in a pre-season friendly. The Panthers were first to cross the whitewash with a great run out wide by Tony Parkin, with the conversion narrowly missed. Two quick tries by Widnes saw them take the lead but that didn’t stop the Panthers enthusiasm and a well worked try by Isaac Heyes, converted by Max Manion. After some great attacking play by the Panthers they were unfortunate ...to go into half time down at 18-10.
The second half saw Widnes widen the lead following their enthusiastic defence, but following up with one of his trademark powerful runs Isaac Heyes was rewarded with his second try of the game. A great cover tackle from Ryan Hughes and defensive heroics from Portico were rewarded with the final try of the morning for Brandon Devlin, Kian Beddall just shy of the crossbar with the conversion. The Panthers enthusiasm never faded with Lucas, Hallie, Harry, and Jackson coming close to the line but were denied after some desperate line defence from Widnes.
Final score at Widnes saw the Panthers go down 18 -32, a score that really doesn’t reflect the effort from the Panthers. Next up is a home game against Portico Greens.

due to our wonderful British weather the game against Westhoughton tomorrow at scholes lane has been called off , match will be rearranged for another date üò™üò™

On a day when mad dogs and Englishmen stayed indoors, the Panthers braved the hail, wind and rain to travel to Shevington Sharks.
The brilliantly fielded kick off by Brandon Devlin was returned with interest seeing Lucas Molyneux go over for a try in the first minute, which he then converted. Tony Parkin then went on a barnstorming run up the middle beating the Shevington defence for a try in the corner. After some great defence from both sides, Brandon Devlin broke the dead...lock with a great individual try that was converted by Max Manion and the Panthers took the lead into a shortened half time, to stop icicles forming on the players!
Shevington scored first in the second half as the cold was beginning to bite, but that didn’t stop Alfie Steers Fletcher scoring a try with a great run from his own half, converted by Brandon Devlin. Harry Leonard followed up with a jinking run to score under the posts and the Panthers scoring was concluded by Lucas Molyneux with some intelligent play from dummy half. Great credit to both teams today, it was bitterly cold and two evenly matched sides put on a great display of rugby seeing the Panthers miss out by 38-32, the Sharks conversions making it count on the day. Next up for the Panthers is a home tie against Westhoughton Lions.
