Our deputy harbourmaster Ben had the pleasure of bringing in the Saga Pearl II on her final visit to Portsmouth this morning. Wait until the end of the video for the surprise!

User

It's with more than a hint of sadness that we welcome the wonderful Saga Pearl II back to #Portsmouth for her 5th and final visit before she retires. The ship has been operating for more than 28 years and her arrival today is the last stop in her final cruise.

I use this port 4 or 5 time a year on my motorbike easy access hassle free don't use any of the facility's so can't comment for me don't change anything

User

I think Portsmouth port in my opinion is the best port in the world.

User

Had a pretty good experience, was able to ask a man in the port for direction to park car and where to go and he was helpful same as the ladies at the front desk. There's a little snack shop in the port to get some basic needs. Only part I didn't like was the cashier on the boat where I asked her politely for a chocolate croissant and she still insisted regular croissant and start throwing it on the plate.

User

Friendly staff at check in. Gave us information on times of boarding. Through customs and onto shuttle no problems. Toilets clean in port. Costa coffee upstairs. Magazines and snacks down stairs. What else could you possibly need. Try Spain's port. Not very clean toilets, no coffee shops, no magazine shops. Staff friendly though. Portsmouth port is great. Xx

User

We use Portsmouth 5/6 times a year it works for us ? I know some people complain about the facilities but it is only a port after all not a destination yes it is a little chaotic once you clear customs but probably busier than they ever planned

User

The only beef that I have as a foot passenger was walking to the terminal, you take your life in your hand evading the traffic entering the port to board the ferries, some whom are very exited about going on holiday and are concentrating more the directions signs than pedestrians. In addition the lack of public transport to and from local rail stations at the terminal, or any signs that will direct to public transport off port.

User

Our first time to Portsmouth port so was not sure wot to expect. It was quiet when we arrived and the staff we came into contact with seemed friendly enough. The two girls on the condor desk were very helpful.

User

Due to our car breaking down in France we returned to England as foot passengers. The transport from the ferry to the terminal was quick and going through customs was also very efficient.

User

As i only go to the port to take a ferry i have no complaints about lack of a restaurant -there is plenty of choice and opportunity to eat on board. When i do arrive too early then the Costa is adequate for a snack and a cuppa. New facilaties - a bar and extended seating - have been added making it more confortable. Facilaties are certainly superior to Newhaven, Dieppe, St. Malo, Le Harvre, Caen...... I suspect that few car passengers actually set foot inside port building as there is no reason to do so.

Bad points : lack of parking - both long term for leaving car to travel by foot and short term for collecting passengers: poor bus service to and from (the 8 from the station gives easy access but the return journey is quite a walk away). The apparent randomness of loading is just the same on all car ferries.

User

The biggest beef I have with the place is the way that off loading vehicles cross over paths with vehicles getting ready to load. Why would you design a port like that, it causes unnecessary delays and confusion. And how about resurfacing vehicle reception area it's a hotch potch of old tarmac all different levels.

User

It's a typical port terminal, though Portsmouth is clean and has a good Costa Coffee shop. Easy access to it straight off the M275.

User

Have used Portsmouth international port for many years. It does the job! Gets me on/off the ferry to/from France. What more could a person want?

User

Reception and waiting building is fine, but it requires more competitive shops and cafe there, why should Costa have the monopoly all the time.

Also disembarkation is a free for all in Portsmouth, where on the French side, it is much better organised.

User

In my opinion the bar in the terminal is extremely un-inviting and we have used the terminal many, many times. It is very expensive for what it is. Perhaps a small area with a few Sofa's comfortable chairs, lower tables etc rather than plastic tables and chairs making it look like a cheap cafeteria. After all it is an "International port"

User

Facilities for drivers isn't up to much showers need cleaning and as for the drivers lounge/portacabin is a joke. Bar is well and truly overpriced. Burger and a pint for £7.50????. Prisoners have better facilties

User

Bar/cafe closed early so not possible to get e drink before boarding. Security/customs very disorganised. Had to wait a long time for bus to boat.

On return, bus dropped us at locked door into empty customs hall

Not set up for passengers not in a vehicle!

User

As a foot passenger with 2 kids and ferry company instructions to check in early the terminal was disappointing. The waiting areas hadn't been cleared of glasses/bottles since the night before. There was no viewing area marked or any effort apparent to cater to families or those waiting with children. Portsmouth International Port was very quickly forgotten and the kids have asked to not bother with ships and stick with flying next time and I can't blame them.

User

45 mins queueing to get through Border Control, compared to 5 mins at St Malo on the way out. Welcome back to Little England. Not entirely the ports fault, but a pain in the ass none the less

User

transport links great BUT the facilities at the port are terrible with inflated prices and no proper food available. my advice go to the pub near the fright entrance otherwise you will starve .
