The Students Pharmacological Society at UH are organising a lunchtime seminar on Tuesday 20 November. The lecture will be delivered by Professor Graeme Henderson. Prof. Henderson studied pharmacology at the Universities of Glasgow (BSc Hons) and Aberdeen (PhD). He is currently Professor of Pharmacology at the University of Bristol, Bristol UK. His research has focused on the molecular mechanisms by which opioid drugs exert their acute and chronic effects on the central nerv...ous system. Most recently he has been examining how opioid drugs induce tolerance to their biological effects and how this tolerance can be modified by other drugs of abuse. He is an author of the undergraduate student textbook, Rang & Dale’s ‘Pharmacology’ now in its 8th edition. He is a past President and Honorary Fellow of the British Pharmacological Society and a past Vice President of the International Union of Basic and Clinical Pharmacology (IUPHAR). He is a member of DrugScience an organisation that aims to provide unbiased scientific information on drugs. His talk entitled ‘Opioid Overdose: From Intrinsic Efficacy to Polypharmacology’ promises to be a thought provoking lecture and I hope many of you will be able to attend. Further details about the lecture please see poster below. Please note that networking and lunch will take place in E350 Foyer,12.00-1.00 p.m. followed by the seminar 1.00 – 2.00 p.m. in room E350. For catering purposes please register your attendance at: https://doodle.com/poll/7n69pchnh4q7grrh by 15 November 2018.
Best wishes,
