We are now closed until Saturday July 6th 10am-2pm. Not sure about Sunday yet, it depends how busy Saturday is and how the fruit holds up. Keep an eye on this page for up to date info.
Another great day of pickers. We are now closed until Wednesday afternoon 1-6pm.
An amazing day today, lots of happy smiling pickers, a few red faces (strawberry tasting and the sun). We will be open tomorrow (Sunday) from 10am-2pm. Ripe strawberries are still there but you have to look under the leaves and hunt for them. Gooseberries are great, the red dessert gooseberries are not quite ready yet but the green ones are lovely. Raspberries - Valentina, an apricot coloured variety is performing well, the red ones just need a little longer.... Currants - red and white ready to pick now, black ones have been picked today but will get more abundant over the next couple of weeks.

Sorry we're not open today but we were picked clean of ripe strawberries yesterday. The next batches are nearly ready so fingers crossed for Wednesday afternoon.
Here is the Ice Cream Recipe. I've used this as a basis for the fruit ice cream and lots of other flavours, it's easy give it a go. 500g fruit 250g castor sugar 300ml double cream... 4 egg whites (3 if you use turkey eggs!) If using gooseberries, soften the fruit a little in a pan. Puree the fruits (sieve to remove pips) Whip egg whites until soft peaks then add sugar until soft peaks again. Whip double cream to soft peaks. Mix together cream, egg whites and fruit puree Put into a tub and freeze (if in a big tub give it a stir after about 1/2 hour, then leave to set) Final part is the most important - Enjoy it.
