Practical Car & Van Rental

BEWARE !
I thought this was a great company after they gave our charity a discount on a rental however just as other reviews suggest they will charge you for damage not caused by you and already on the vehicle to make some extra money.
In our case when we picked the van up it was noted that the glass in the wing mirrors was broken. Upon returning the vehicle we are charged for the cracked plastic around the damaged glass. The plastic is translusent and we picked the van up covered in frost. There is no way we could have seen these cracks in amongst all the other damage on the vehicle. The MD knows that we are a charity and he knows the van was already damaged so as far as we are concerned has literally and knowingly just taken money out of starving children's mouths. He said he wanted £50 so I refused as I know we did not cause any damage he told me if I did not agree to the £50 then he would confiscate the whole £250 deposit and take an extra £30 ! So I reluctantly paid.

Note: van was a heap. Covered in dents , internal door trims falling off ,broken mirrors, dashboard display constantly beeping and showing message rear doors open and only 1 door out of 4 actually locked.

Best price we could find locally, no issues with the rental. However on returning the I was charged £50 for a scuff on a plastic bumper that was barely visible to the naked eye. I guess this is how Practical actually make any money, because they're not repairing any of this "damage" based on the state of the rest of the van!

Absolutely terrible, rude and bullying service. Took over an hour to sort my rental out. When I queried this the "Director" of the company refused to rent to me a stormed out of the building leaving me high and dry and needing to move house. He then left a threatening voicemail on my fiancées phone. Very rude and aggressive staff when questioning the way they operate. Avoid like the plague. Use Les LINEY or one of the other rental companies. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY.
