Precious Lives Atlantic Challenge 2014 Description
Precious Lives Atlantic Challenge
Transatlantic Row 2014
New York to Isles of Scilly
On the 6th June 2014, British rowers Elliott Dale and Chris Walters will undertake arguably the toughest transatlantic rowing challenge; 3246 miles from New York to the Isles of Scilly, as they attempt to break the current two men in a boat transatlantic record of 55 days, a record which has stood for 117 years by George Harbo and Frank Samuelson, Norwegian born American citizens.
Why the Precious Lives Atlantic Challenge
In undertaking this record breaking Atlantic row, the team want to raise ample funds and awareness for our children and families, who are undertaking undoubtedly the hardest journey a family could possibly go through, the death of their child.
Children’s Hospice South West provides care for over 400 families. Of these some come to us for palliative care, some for emergency care and many for planned respite and a rare opportunity for a break. Many of our families are also supported through our bereavement team after the loss of their child.
