Predator Drysuits

Having noticed that when the Kubi "Fitted" Cuff Systems are installed into drysuits, not just Predator, there can be wear on the fabric.
This is where the metal ring under the trilaminate fabric has an edge and the general way we "Don" the dryglove is to squeeze the dryglove into place as it is a compression, "O" Ring fit and we squeeze against the area as in our picture.
Therefore, my constant quest for Predator Perfection kicked in, I just could not ignore it.
... I have now successfully designed a protective outer cover that provides a double layer to protect the trilaminate fabric from extra wear, and with the addition of a neoprene cuff end it protects the metal Kubi ring from damage as well.
This has taken two days from a thought to the idea to conception, design, pattern, make, re-think, re-design, re-pattern, re-make, tweak etc but I am extremely pleased and confident with my solution and I have had to design it with Predator Custom Drysuits in mind.
It is very easy to use, pull back the neoprene sleeve, install the dryglove, or seal, flip the neoprene sleeve back and it is done, outer trilaminate and metal ring protected, brilliant!

I purposely asked Gareth to stand in the same place when I took these images on Friday as when he collected is first drysuit out of interest and it is so gratifying to see how his new Evolution looks to the Expedition I designed for him 6 years ago!
I personally design, draw and cut out every customer their own pattern from the measurement form we have for them whether we see them here or it is done online, emails and telephone conversations.
This is exactly as I did for Gar...eth, it was a completely new set of measurements and a new pattern, very pleased with the result!
The Evolution has truly evolved...

Okay, to follow up to last weeks topic of replacement neck seal systems. I have checked the neoprene condition and the installation of a neoprene neck seal and see that the neoprene within the inner ring has crushed to approx 1.0mm from 3.0mm that you may make out in the first photo. I have also checked on how securely it stayed in place after being in the test rig for seven days adopting the shoulder curve (second photo) (much bending and pulling!) and have found that it is ...secure, however it was not actually used diving where further compression WILL take place of the neoprene which COULD result in a loose fitting within the clamping of the inner ring so I still HIGHLY recommend that a pre-dive check is undertaken on any type of seal used in these systems but the test showed that it appears to be okay to use. I currently do not make a neoprene seal for this but I am aware that you can purchase them. Please note that this is a weeks test on suitability out of interest and I am not of course wishing to discredit the use of these types of systems, they work well and maybe I am cautious but I experience so much at Predator and just alerting you of actual possibilities...Dive safe my friends..cheers!
