The waiting staff took ages to come take our order. We weren't over bothered at first because us girls were nattering having a catch up but then we realised it had been awhile!!

And then when our food was put on the counter we waited a couple of minutes and had to tell a waiter our food was ready and yet he proceeded to clear a table.

The food was still nice and hot fortunately but the service was just a bit too layed back.

Never had an issue before hope it was a one off.

User

Our family of six went on Thursday eve glad I pre booked as people walking in was asked to wait not due to not enough tables but due to amount of staff on duty I'm guessing. In my eyes not a bad thing as I'd rather a company give good service on the customer than just filling a table with poor service. Good food and very attentive staff in my eyes would definitely be back.

User

Often eat at Prezzo. Usually with a voucher. Meal was good. Service very good and deivery of food to table in terms of time was just right.

User

I get bored of the same old takeaway haunts but we discovered a new service at Prezzo in Hitchin we are from Hitchin hertfordshire Picked up a takeaway last night from Prezzo using their takeaway service and a £19.99 Deal on 2 pizzas, 2 sides and a large garlic bread, really tasty, really convenient and good value for money. Thought I would share the love ...

User

Great food. Good service. Would highly recommend

User

I always enjoyed going to prezzo my meal was great but someone's pizza was very dry , the service was very disjointed and waiting time slow , we booked our party well in advance so there was no excuse for not having enough staff was very disappointed this time ,has it was a special birthday

User

We went there for my girlfriends birthday, our friends got there half hour before we did and we got there they still hadnt been asked if they wanted drinks or anything and after gettting there 20 minutes after getting there we had to say to a waiter can we order drinks and a starter. The starter cane before the drinks did well about a minute before! The food was nice its just the overall service wasnt great! The only thing they did nice was they lit candles on a birthday cake for us

User

Staff in Hitchin are lovely, but you have ruined the menu ! No goats cheese on a starter and reduced everything down . I want a light Vesuvio that s What I eat ! And a light pudding with a coffee all gone ! I won't be back till you change it back !

User

My husband and I have been quite regular visitors to the Hitchin branch for a number of years (so much so, that my waters broke there two years ago on Valentines Day!). We have always found it faultless and by far the best Prezzo in the area. However; last night was different! We experienced unusually slow and inattentive service. I was particularly irritated because a) the restaurant wasn't busy and b) I had to try and entertain my toddler for around 30 minutes until the waitress came to take our order. Granted I did sit on the upstairs sofa for 10 minutes breastfeeding, but even after I returned nobody bothered to come over to our table. I can only assume that our waitress was a manager considering the poor attitude she had towards kitchen staff, which was rather unprofessional. I wonder if they have changed their staff? The usual faces were nowhere to be seen. I hope this won't be a continuing trend as I love this restaurant!

User

Food was lovely but service was awful, especially as the restaurant wasn't particularly busy. Had to keep catching someone as they rushed past, wasn't once asked how food was and in the end had to collect our own drinks that were sitting on the bar. Love Prezzo but wouldn't return to Hitchin!

User

Food was good, but service was very slow. We went for a late lunch (Saturday afternoon), but were in there nearly two hours. We had to take the kids desserts to go. The restaurant wasn’t full by any means either.

User

Went to celebrate my father in law to be birthday and anniversary of meeting my fiancée however the food was good but the service was very poor took ages for desert and coffee to be served and when I mentioned this there was no real apology just a "yes it was"

User

We were forgotten for around 20 minutes so not a great start, half hearted 'apology' claiming it was busy (it clearly wasn't). Ordered the new Chargrilled Vegetable pizza which was a nasty mess. I couldn't figure out what the vegetables were and neither could the waiter as they buy them in pre-prepared apparently. Bit of a shame the 'chef' can't chop some fresh vegetables but can smother the thing in some awful balsamic vinegar concoction. I'd give the Hitchin branch a miss perhaps.

User

Staff were rude, rushed us and got our order wrong. The restaurant is also very dirty! The food was very good though, but we won't go back.

User

Food was luke warm, portions were too small (most definitely wouldn't satisfy a mans appetite) food tasted rather bland. Slow waiting time. I'm more than sure one of the kitchen staff had been outside for a cigarette, watched him come in and remove his coat, didn't wash his hands and proceeded in the kitchen area. 1st time in years I've not enjoyed Prezzo.

User

Food was faultless and restaurant clean however service was something else. 3 different waiters, we abandoned our own starter plates on a disused table after being sick of looking at them soon got cleared away then. Had to ask for desert for kids and for last diner plate to be cleared. Staff we're not particularly warming or welcoming not so much as a goodbye. Oh and pencils kids we're given for colouring all needed sharpening... sunday night too hardly busy...pretty poor really.

User

What on earth has happened to Prezzo? I had lunch there yesterday and the waitress was rude and uninterested. I ordered the Penne Arrabiata, which is probably one of the simplest dishes to create and, whatever I was served, it wasn't an arrabiata! Diced carrot in what should be a simple pomodoro sauce?? No chilli in the sauce, just a crude half a whole chilli laid across the top of the pasta. Bland, tasteless, rubbish. At no point did anyone enquire how our food was. The restaurant was practically empty yet service was slow. Terrible!

User

Just returned from the worst meal my family and I have had since moving to Hitchin just over four years ago (and we eat out a lot!)

Appalling, disinterested service. Clearly not working as a team (lots of front of house staff blaming the kitchen for delays). My Wife, 1 year old, 3 year old and I dined at 5pm, on a Sunday, the restaurant was 1/3 full at best and it took nearly an hour for our starters to arrive and close to two hours before we had mains. The kids were in bits and restless, due to boredom and hunger.

We clearly weren't the only ones either, we spoke to two other tables in similar situations, both of whom had to complain and, in one case, left after their starters without paying because they'd been waiting too long. At least three parties left at the door (two with reservations) because the Manager/waiting staff (and in two cases, other customers) told them of the long waiting time (but did nothing to assuage their concerns - in fact, one family had sat, read the menus, decided what they wanted and were looking for a memeber of staff to seat them before giving up and leaving!). During this vacuum of customer service, three of the waiting staff (including the manager), were cleaning empty tables (priorities!).

Not once were we asked if we wanted a second drink. We had to walk up to the counter in order to get the bill because we'd been there so long (about 7.15pm at this point), it was well past the kids' bedtime and we had to leave without dessert. We'd been pretty restrained with our own complaints, but when the Manager spoke to my Wife while settling the bill (which, to be fair, was heavily discounted) and she raised our concerns, the conversation was more finger pointing/blame than apologies/solutions.

Interestingly, all of the staff blamed Deliveroo orders for their inability to serve their restaurant customers. They claimed that because of the time constraints put on them by the Deliveroo arrangement, they have no choice but to deliver those orders as a priority (and that they too are frustrated by this).

In conclusion, it was a debacle - and the discount did not compensate for what was, ultimately, a pretty miserable/stressful evening in the end. I sincerely hope that Prezzo in Hitchin shuts up shop and becomes the telephone pizza delivery outfit it clearly aspires to be and hands over its prime location to an excellent local independent restaurant, which might not take its customers for granted. Until then, we shall not be returning. Appalling!

User

Just had a horrific meal in prezzo hitchin.

The waiter rolled his eyes when I asked for an allergy menu.

The chef refused to allow me to eat as was worried about being sued for any reaction. Eventually I was allowed a side salad of leaf, cucumber and tomato and roasted vegetables (4 pieces of courgette). Two small bowls came out, they made no effort to make it a suitable size for a main.

When everyone else got a dessert menu, the waiter deliberately missed me out.

Don't bother going there.
