The food was excellent. I had a great time. Good fun with staff and patients mostly, although the night staff needed more 'training'.

I have spent a significant portion of my life as a psychiatric patient in the NHS system (as well as various other private establishments) and have deteriorated year on year. It should also be noted that I have worked with the NHS to improve the environment for psychiatric care. When I joined the Priory I have rebuilt my life in a positive way. The doctors genuinely listen to the issues presented and work in a constructive manner WITH the patent to find an amicable resolution. Unlike the NHS you will not be treated as a number and the medication prescribed will not be based solely on weather the NHS lists say its too expensive. The environment is generally fresh, welcoming and comfortable. When calling into the hospital staff are incredibly helpful and in my experience they have never failed to help. I have to agree with previous reviewers that the cost of this care is rather high without insurance however the style and manner in which treatment is given has thus far been superior to any other facility I have ever visited. It should also be noted that as an alternative to private insurance is a Personal Budget. This may not cover all costs but can be used to reduce the cost of some types of treatment. Further to this when a medication is to be particularly expensive, my doctor has been willing to send a request to my GP to enable me to receive an NHS prescription with significantly reduced costs. Thus I cannot stress enough that you should not be immediately put off by the high prices. So overall Priory Hospital Chelmsford get a 5 star rating from this healthy patient and a glowing recommendation to anyone with pre-existing mental health issues and those looking for a diagnosis or assistance. Lovely experience there, both inpatient outpatient. I was offered lots of support to suit and benefit my needs.
Only negative is the prices, which are very expensive unless you have private health insurance.
The staff there were fantastic.
I participated in a DBT group course which gave me the most help I've ever had, and improved my state of mind greatly.
I'd highly recommend it to anyone seeking help, hope this helps!
