Come try our senior citizens special!
Went yesterday with family and enjoyed quick friendly service. Fish perfectly cooked and batter was light and not oily. Chips were good and crisp and portion size was perfect. Sat inside to eat to avoid wind and seagulls! Have been before and would go again. Reviewers that moan about the price need to look at price list before ordering then go somewhere else!
Went during folk music week. Had cod and chips and were amazing. Chips cut nice and thick, cooked perfect and not oily. Cod and batter beautifully cooked and had a side dish of mushy peas lovely. The portion was big as well. Value for money. Will visit again, well recommended
The best fish and chips in a long time
Quick service great food and dog friendly too
Me and my husband went for a late supper. I have been to the Prospect Plaice before but a few years ago it was nice then. I had Scampi and Chips and my husband had Fishcakes and Chips. We did not have to wait long for the food to be served. When we received it was a very large portion with a good deal of Scampi and Chips and a mixed salad with a Balsamic Dressing which was very nice. My husband enjoyed his Fishcakes and Chips but because he so many chips he could not finish them. I had a generous amount of Scampi and large amount of chips which all tasted delicious. Definitely going back there for another meal.
Lovely fish and chips, very tasty! Not the cheapest I'm sure but definitely not disappointed with the quality. Good portion size - generous without being overwhelming /wasteful.
Just had excellent Fish and Chips, perfectly cooked in a nice light batter.
Was great to be able to sit inside with the dogs, and the free sausage for the dogs was greatly enjoyed.
Many thanks for a great lunch!
It was a delicious meal. Considering they were short staffed the service was excellent. Would definitely go back.
I have eaten there and it was very nice
Staff are friendly
Friendly staff, fish was lovely, nice light batter. Chips were how chips should be. Family of 8 all happy.
Fish was perfectly cooked and enormous, I thought I wouldn't eat half of it but I did eat it all, was delicious and the chips were very good too! We paid an extra pound for a side dish, mashed peas and that was delicious too! A bit pricey but worth the money!
Fantastic plaice () we had a lovely meal of cod & chips. We initially thought the price was a little high, but when we got our meal there was stacks of food!!! Extremely tasty, we thoroughly enjoyed it....
Absolutely fabulous if you want delicious fish and chips this is the place to go beautifully cooked and well presented.
We had nice meal there. Food was cooked fresh and was not covered in grease. Nice fresh salad with meal. Service was polite and quick. We did go when it was quiet though. Would go again. Is slightly above average on price.
Great scampi and chips. When we come again we will certainly come back for more.
We went to this place yesterday (23/04/2018)...Upon arrival we were greeted with a guy who was very unapproachable and seemed too busy to take our order, he told us they only had fish and chips left on the menu and then began to suggest other places to go instead. He seemed more focused on trying to get us to go somewhere else than actually welcome us in. He suggested another fish and chip shop down the road so we took his recommendation, when we arrived, to no surprise it was closed so we made our way back to Prospect Plaice. We explained it was shut so we asked if we could place our order, with an obvious sigh and groan while we were placing our order, reluctantly the man listened and then asked us to speed up as he was shutting soon. The total came to £20 for 2 fish and chips and a bottle of coke... While we were waiting an elderly man entered the shop but was told by the man "we are done now, can't you read" - no apology and the way he spoke to elderly man was confrontational and rude.
After around 15 minutes our fish the size of finding Nemo and 3 chips arrived. This place is beyond terrible and the customer service is non existent. This shop takes advantage of every customer because of the location it is in they know that people will go there no matter what as its the first place they see. I strongly suggest you give this restaurant the same treatment it gives its customers. If its the only place open when you arrive, save your money, buy a boat and catch your own fish... it would be a lot cheaper and easier than going in there!
We went on Bank holiday Monday, back in April. They were so busy, they had long queues. I got our food, but i was waiting for my Aunty and her families food, where we were told our orders were mixed up, by us!! And we won't be coming back here again.
Very disappointed with my meal. I was expecting real chips not frozen and the fish was small and very greasy. It's very over priced for such a poor quality meal. I've eaten all over the world without and stomach upsets but after this meal I felt very nauseous. Beyond terrible - give this place a wide birth.
Rude and antagonizing all for some McCain oven chips that i could pay half the price for in Tesco' s. Went here on holiday and the service was ridiculously slow over 15 mintues for my oven chips and the staff were rude and condescending and gave pathetic excuses as to why the food was late and one of the pathetic little boys kept staring me out when i was rightly complaining. You're better off going to a PROPER fish and chip shop not one that's a "restaurant that serves take away too because people like that too" because there you'll get good service and proper chips not oven chips. Thanks for my refund though because those chips were not worth the money. Defintely won't be returning unless I have plans to have it for my dinner in a few weeks time.
I visited today with my toddler daughter and my sister and was really disappointed. The food was very overpriced, to the point where all I could afford was a portion of chips for my girl and a drink each, which all came to nearly a tenner. As I was being served the drinks I couldn't help but notice that everything was dirty - the glasses, the spoon used in my hot choc, the counter.. it was all a bit... grimy. The chips came promptly but they were really mediocre "oven chips", definitely out of a packet and far from the sea side chips we expected! Disappointing, bearing in mind the cost - and my toddler barely touched them. The final touch was when my little girl spilt a bit of her milkshake and we realised we didn't have any napkins with our meals, not even anything on the tables. We scrabbled around for napkins but because we were upstairs there was nobody to ask for help, eventually I used my scarf to try to mop up my daughter and the table. A stranger then pointed out there were some napkins weirdly hidden around the corner so we managed to clear up the table but by that point I had a sad, restless girl, an empty purse and I just wanted to go. Didn't even get to finish my (out the tin) hot chocolate :(
The staff were very friendly, which was definitely a redeeming feature, but I wouldn't go back again.
