In association with the Swimming Teachers Association (STA) International "Learn to Swim Week", next week at Puddle Ducks is "Pyjama" week when the main focus of each class is water safety.
All swimmers and their parents and guardians attending classes on or between the 13th-19th May are invited to wear their PJ's in the water; experiencing the different feel and gaining a wider appreciation of the impact on being safe around water

Super Swimming Rudy; completely independent 5 meters distance swim smashed this weekend; your badge and certificate are on their way; we are all very proud of you. Good Luck in our Swim Academy- you are going to be amazing!

This young man definitely can.... Louis swam 5 metres completely independently this weekend having joined Puddle Ducks when he was just 3 months old; Pat is extremely proud of how far you have come. Super swimming Louis your badge and certificate are on their way. X

Hooray; Its time to work off all that chocolate; our classes start back at all pools from today.

Why are we different to other baby and child swim schools? The answer is simple; our activities are child led so your little one feels empowered and never forced.
Our Approach –
• Our children love to mimic their grownup; we see babies as young as 8 weeks of age copy their parents by putting their mouths and faces in the water. This simple act is one of the first steps in swimming head down.
... • Our teachers are trained to look for cues then gently guide our parents to help them understand these cues. The end result is that our little ones are relaxed, never put in a position where they feel uncomfortable or shocked and can choose to place their face in the water or submerge themselves as and when they are ready.
• In our surface swims little ones glide through the water, gently supported by their parents; the child decides then whether they want to submerge themselves – which they quite often do!
• Our holistic approach includes creating opportunities for elective submersions, throughout the entire lesson.

Next week the focus of our classes will be water safety where we invite all our swimmers and carers to wear their pyjamas in their lessons. Being safe around water is one of the most important aspects of learning to swim. We ensure that personal survival skills such as reaching for the side are taught very early on so that they become second nature to your child. We hope you enjoy your lessons next week in the meantime here are some helpful tips on keeping your little one safe...

In Swim Academy Level 1 (ages 4-10), it is often the first time that children enter the pool without their parent and our whole focus is on water confidence, basic water safety and the foundation skills for independent swimming. By Swim Academy Level 2, our children are swimming 5m and lifting their head to breathe. We now work with them to build their confidence further. We still operate a maximum ratio of 4 children:1 teacher but there are more group activities, reflecting the increased level of ability in this group . My little girl is 3 and only done 3 lessons so far, I am totally amazed how far she has come in such a small time, highly highly recommended. It's so true you really do get what you pay for. Her instructor is brilliant with the children and makes it so much fun learning to swim x

Just got back from jessicas lesson at little dippers and wanted to say a huge thank you to her teacher Faye the confidence she has gained is amazing. Today for the first time she put her head under the water this is a massive step. Would definitely recommend Puddle ducks :) x

I’ve been bringing my little girl Lily to Puddle ducks at Hesketh Bank and to Leah since she was 5 months old. Nearly a year on I would not change this for anything else. We had a massive break from lessons over the Christmas period, where unfortunately we had a little incident with waves and being knocked over on a holiday. This led to Lily losing a lot of confidence in water. However with Leah’s guidance, expertise and perseverance since then we are finally getting our water confident little girl back. Thank you so much! Would highly recommend Leah and Puddle ducks! X

Another great lesson this morning for my daughter Layla with Leah in Hesketh Bank.

Layla loves her lessons and has come so far in the last year. Leah is fab which is why we travel to this class over ones closer to home. � ����
