Went with family and had Sunday lunch!! Really tasty and best gravy ever! Decided to revisit on Monday for the ploughmans platter! Absolutely gorgeous and the white chocolate cheesecake was to die for! Thoroughly recommend this place!

User

We were stopping at Centre Parcs for the weekend and rather than pay their ridiculous prices for bang average food, we did a quick google and tried the Punch. Superb food and really good friendly service.

We shared a starter: Garlic Mushroom Croquettes - Gorgeous

I had the Steak and Cheddar Pie which I was dubious about ordering but after a bit of banter with the waitress I went for it. Glad I took your advice! The best pie I have ever had.

My wife had seared chicken breast and said that it was really nice as were the accompanying veg. She is fussy about her veg but said it was cooked to perfection.

We only live about an hour away so will definitely be back soon.

Its not cheap but in terms of quality it left you feeling more than satisfied

Thank you and well done!

This is a wonderful village pub the food was excellent served by very friendly staff. We were there on a very damp evening but the lovely open fire gives a very warm welcome and if you are a beer lover the real ales were superb

This Lil gem of a pub is amazing. The staff r great fun and very accommodating. Stayed the night after copious amounts of gin from the "gin menu" and having a fabulous Sunday lunch ( cudnt fault a thing and I am fussy). Bed was really comfy and then enjoyed the full English breakfast. Will definitely be back. Can't recommend this place enough. Well done guys ur pub is blooming fantastic.

C u all soon from the drunken gin bums!

Stayed 2 nights with a group of friends as we were attending a wedding. Excellent place to stay. Staff were very welcoming. Room very comfortable. Food outstanding! First time in Cumbria for us & we plan to come back & stay again.

My husband and I just happened to drop into this pub for a drink on Friday 29th April, we were staying nearby for the weekend. We thought how friendly and welcoming the staff and locals seemed to be so we booked to have a meal the following evening... It was the best decision we made, the food was absolutely gorgeous. After listening to the waiters recommendations about some of the meals and which wine went well with certain meals, we decided what to order, the food was so tasty and the wine complimented the food so well. The food was piping hot and there was plenty of it too. We had a wonderful evening. Compliments to the chef and all the staff who were all very attentive and smiling always.

User

Lovely, friendly staff and AMAZING food at very reasonable prices. Nice, spacious room, comfy bed and great breakfast. Would recommend a stay here.

User

Had the Pinchna steak - delicious! Great portions. Yeah locals do hang round the bar making bit difficult to see drinks on offer but staff were excellent in serving us. Too full for puddings but will be going back before heading home to Yorkshire!

User

User

Excellent little pub we were staying at parkfoot campsite just a short drive away and discovered this little gem totally by accident on our return home from a day out on Thursday 1/6/17 we called in for a quick drink and we're greeted by a lovely young lady very friendly we decided to book a table for Friday evening for 7.30 but advised 7.15 would be best as they were expecting a big party of 20 at 730

Best choice we had made all week food and service was exelent well done to the staff

May I just say we will return next year and recommend you'd to others you blew the socks off every pub in pooly bridge ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

User

Excellent little country pub just ten minutes drive from Ullswater. We have just stayed for 2 nights and the staff were more than accommodating. The food is also excellent.

User

Date night with the hubby, after being turned away from a pub/restaurant a few villages away we ended up here at the punchbowl and thank goodness we did! Lovely welcome, friendly and cozy atmosphere and delicious food. Thank you.

User

Very nice food and friendly atmosphere, not sure it could ever be 5 stars on this type of review because it’s limited due to location and it’s ability to create amazingness as it’s a quiet village pub. But certainly a good effort and if you’re in Askham looking for food then it’s a no brainier .. go there !

User

First time at the inn. Warm welcome from staff. Nice view from room. Accomadation was very comfortable. Had an evening meal and have to say it was dilisious ......

Staff were both very friendly and helpful.........would definitely stay their again...my wife would love it.........

User

Booked for 8 of us....late to the table but that wasn't too much of an issue.... until we were rushed out because they had another booking 1.5hrs later.... it's a good job we didn't want pudding! Kids food had good reviews from the kids, the chicken looked good....roast dinner not the best, roasted veg was more than a little 'al dente', no fresh veg but the table next to us were brought fresh veg.... a lot of options on the menu not available, chips were lovely! Waitress a little rude, it was busy, but she wasn't very accommodating....

User

Very disappointed with my Sunday roast yesterday; the beef was full of sinew and fat and I simply couldn't eat it. I told the waitress but despite this I was charged full price for the meal, probably because I asked for my beef to be put in a dogbag - very expensive dog food though.

In fairness my companion enjoyed the lamb she ordered.

I was also charged £9 for three (non-alcoholic) coffees which were little better than dishwater (especially the latte macchiato); this place really needs to do some barista training or stop charging a fortune for very poor coffee.

I am a local but will not be eating here again or recommending it to anyone.

User

I have heard about this pub serving very good food. Arrived at 7pm on a Sunday and to get to the bar past what I can only think are locals was very off putting. No one asked if we wanted to eat. Got told to go and sit at a table, they were either reserved or hadn't been cleared. Smelt of wet dog(at least 3 dogs in) and I felt it looked run down. Managed to get a seat which was low table and high chairs(not comfortable). Slow service for drinks and to take order. When food arrived portions were small so had a desert and they too were small and the crumble was tasteful with minimal custard. Won't be back due to this experience.
