Pure Wander Magazine came into being in 2013 when co-founders and freelance travel writers, Shauna and Eileen, put their heads together to create a superior publication that focused on family adventures. The travel industry was flooded with publications that focus on budget travel, luxury travel, leisure travel, adventure travel, and travel to specific destinations—and sometimes they print stories about traveling with kids. Parenting sites are filled with tips on where to go with children and how to get there. Family travel websites focus on "family-friendly" locations, spring break and summer trips, as well as things you can do in popular destinations. Oftentimes this is good information, but it’s generic and predictable, allowing for cookie-cutter trips to take with kids in crowded, family-only destinations.
Our publication stands out because it offers a different perspective. The founders wanted to offer readers eclectic, unforgettable excursions they can have across the globe with children of all ages. We offer our readers more than a generic travel guide—Pure Wander illustrates ways to really experience the world with your children.

The Florida Keys’ brand new resort is a tropical dream. 🏝 The first time in a long time, we’re actually down here on a real vacation, hoping to get off the grid for a couple days at the Isla Bella Beach Resort on Marathon - not working, not sponsored, just fun! But it’d be a shame if I didn’t share how pretty this place is, perfect for groups with two bedroom options right by the water. The keys aren’t really for beaches, but with five pools and plenty of water sports, it’s not missed. ⛵️ I hope you get a bit of sunshine this weekend wherever you are too! -Eileen

Eileen and I had so much fun on our 'treat yo'self' day at The Resort at Longboat Key Club spa! How do you pamper yourself while traveling?
While we've spent most of the time on the beach, a real treat was a walk around the Selby Gardens - Marie Selby Botanical Gardens in Sarasota, Florida. There's ten different garden installations to explore, including a conservatory, rainforest and desert area. They specialize in studying epiphytes - air plants! Tour the old mansions onsite too, gifted by Marie Selby, who loved gardening and celebrating the beauty of Visit Sarasota County. It's well worth a quick Uber ride off resort while in the area. -Eileen & Jeanne

A little British flair in Palm Beach! We loved a sophisticated escape this weekend at The Chesterfield Hotel - their properties are mostly in the UK, but owners live Florida so much they opened a boutique place there decades ago. Afternoon tea, secluded pool, airy bedroom suites and al fresco breakfast? Yes please! -Eileen

Thailand is quickly becoming one of my favorite places to visit. This country is much more than north and south, or simply island hopping. There’s a rich variety of influence from outside cultures, like the Chinese (baba) and neighbors like Cambodia/Laos. Not to mention the fascinating Thai food, dance, music and history. We have a whole bunch of clips from the trip coming up, stay tuned!
