Summer School 14 - 31 July From painting al fresco by the Thames to throwing pottery on the wheel to designing on an iPad, (over 30 courses to choose from) Putney School of Art and Design is running a programme of short courses this summer for adults and young people. Courses range from one day to five days, some tailored for total beginners, some for artists with experience, and others for Families and young people. National Open Art 2014: call for entries It's well worth looking at the National Open Art website to find out more about their annual competition; with a purse of £60,000 for prizes there are plenty of opportunities for everyone. Work is selected for show at Somerset House and is offered for sale. Take a look at the past year's work and see the range and the amount sold . Putney School of Art and Design student Mandana Khonsari wins 1st prize in the Royal Marsden Hospital competition/exhibition, for her work Landscape in Oil.

Ian Ellis ran a very successful course recently looking at the Potential of Three Modern Palettes The course was focusing on the mixing methods used by three influential modern painters: Giorgio Morandi, Claude Monet and Vincent van Gogh. From the expressions on the faces of the students and their feedback it was a runaway success.

Programme of Summer term courses is going online this week - www.wandsworth.gov.uk /psad - includes taster courses and half term intensives as well as a range of over 100 courses to choose from.

Dynamic Drawing at the V& A

Dilpoma Goes Large - Diploma students in their second year are currently making their first foray into large scale painting - overlaying and abstracting composition based on life drawing. The work will be exhibited in the school at the end of April. Anyone interested in finding out more about the Diploma in Art and Design can contact Julia Court at jcourt@wandsweorth.gov.uk
