Pygmy Hippo Foundation Description
The aims of the Pygmy Hippo Foundation include informing the Liberian government about the need to protect the pygmy hippo. Through further training, local park rangers will be able to track and locate these shy and reclusive animals, contributing to a greater understanding of their habitat and behaviours, about which little is currently known. Sponsorship of research by leading conservationists is part of the Pygmy Hippo Foundation’s contribution towards the protection of one of Liberia’s endangered species.

Did you spot the baby pygmy hippo on last night's #SuperSmallAnimals ?! The Daily Mail's Christopher Stevens dubbed the pygmy hippo the 'cutest animal in the world' in his review this morning. Naturally, we are inclined to agree!
In case you missed it, the BBC1 show is available on BBC iPlayer.

This month we learned that a baby pygmy hippopotamus has been born at an Animal Conservation Institute, Taman Safari Indonesia, in Bogor. Due to the limited population of this remarkable species, its arrival marks a very special occasion for the Pygmy Hippo Foundation.
The new arrival is the progeny of male hippopotamus Ujani and female Vivi, however, we do not yet know the name of the calf. What we do know though, is that he or she is already well-accustomed to diving under water and possesses 'very charming' behavioural patterns, according to the safari's zookeepers.
The Pygmy Hippo Foundation looks forward to learning more of the animal later in the year!
