Good basic food with chips! We found the staff very friendly and helpful, and they picked up that I have a dairy intolerance so recommended that I didn’t have the butty as the bap contained milk. I had instead just chips which were great while my partner had cheeseburger and chips. The cafe was clean and obviously popular for those of us who don’t want to spend a fortune on a snack.

Amanda and the staff can not do enough to help. Every year 10 of us go (as well as a few times inbetween of course!) in the January. I text the order through the day before, table is reserved and the food served at our chosen time. The fish is the best for miles around and it never disappoints. Nothing is a problem to ensure we all get what we would like. Lovely staff, amazing food. Would highly recommend!
Visited at lunch time today & though Amble was busy there were only four other customers in the shop. The woman behind the counter, wearing spectacles, took my order, told me the price, held her hand out for the money & hardly even made eye contact. Shortly after that another dark haired woman came from the rear of the building, looked round at the customer's but never smiled or looked happy. Service with a smile it certainly was not!
The only one being pleasant was the one young girl working there. The fish was lovely & so was the batter, but the portion of chips contained very few decent sized ones & were quite hard, most of them were sharp bits that we fed to the seagulls. We won't be returning.
Utensils were dirty and table alike. When approached staff tried to say the marks on utensils were scratches on the metal. This was evidently not the case and they were less than helpful. As we have used this place many times, it was a bit shocking to say the least.
Terrible service! Loads working in shop, but nothing prepared! Staff have terrible customer service! Large chips were actually small portion. Overall food tasted good!
Worst chips I've ever had! Dry, overcooked & tasteless.......very disappointing!!
