About Quite Useless Arts

Changing the perception of art

Quite Useless Arts Description

All art is quite useless” – Oscar Wilde. All art is quite useless because it serves no functional purpose. It only exists to be admired and to inspire people to invoke an emotional response. When asked what he meant by this Oscar Wilde responded “all art is quite useless like a flower”. The meaning being that flowers serve no purpose other than beauty.

In our modern world art is treated like a commodity no different to stocks or oil. We, at Quite Useless, think this is wrong and intend to make a difference in the art world and move contemporary art in a more wholesome and less vacuse direction. Too few art galleries are willing to take a chance on new artists – the well of creativity is doomed to dry up if this continues.

Quite Useless is a company formed by Sascha Bailey, Jack Daniels Thompson, Mimi Nishikawa and Ronald Bricento. Sascha Bailey has been curating and producing art exhibitions for the last 3 years and has worked with several central London Galleries. Further, in 2014 Sascha took over a space in Covent Garden assisted by Mimi Nishikawa for a month under the name Something Else Collective. Ronald Briceno has documented every show and exhibition by Sascha Bailey over the years and offers a unique perspective on art. Jack Daniels is our Creative Director. Originally an entrepreneur, producer, digital marketer and artist. He has worked closely with the development of Quite Useless and the artists signed to it. The eventual goal of Quite Useless is to become a restaurant, bar, club and art gallery all rolled into one. But before we can achieve this we plan to have a string of exhibitions to provide a taste of what is due to come. We will be working exclusively with Toby Cartwright who will be taking on the role of head chef when this young company achieves its goals.

Be it fashion, music, food, photography or painting Quite Useless considers any creative outlet to be art and in the next few years we intend to show you what we plan to do in the future.
