Really pleased to announce that Aqui Thami will be joining us at @rabbitsroadpress as V&A Research Institute Offsite Resident from October 15. The Mumbai based artist and activist is inspired by the culture of DIY, which has brought her to collaborate with young girls, women and children. She is a member of @bombayunderground which hosted the first Zine Fest in Mumbai, bringing together a large volume of self-published books and zines for the public for the first time ever in... India. . . . She will be based at Rabbits Road from October 15 - January 15, working with the brilliant @oomkzine whilst staying at @whitehousedagenham. This marks the second collaboration Create London have had with the @vamuseum following Wouter Osterholt's residency earlier this year. We can't wait to welcome her!

Its that time of year again and we are really pleased to tell you about the Summer School for teens we are running - Making Happy Places.
What do you think Architects do all day? Join us this Summer to find out, think about your city and work on a professional architecture brief. Across the 4 days (July 30th to August 2nd) participants will explore communal spaces and reflect on the social impacts of architectural design. The school will be an opportunity to pause and reflect... on your relationship to your home, the city and consider your place within it. How are the environments and the spaces we live in important? You will begin to build up a portfolio and skills that could contribute to moving into the field of Architecture.
The programme will be delivered by local Architectural designer Sahra Hersi and Artist Laura Owen. It will run from Monday – Thursday and conclude with the opportunity to apply for a work experience placement at a professional architects practice. The 4 days will consist of creative and experimental workshops in model making/drawing, developing design concepts, discussion and talks from Architects and an exhibition visit. Students will set up their own studios in the space and be welcomed into the Artist and Architects community at the Old Manor Park Library. Limited places are available for this programme.
Please register here: http://ow.ly/eDog30kEg2E Suitable for young people aged 15-18yrs. Schedule for each day is 10am to 4pm.

Next MAGHREB CINÉ at Rabbits Road Institute. An absolute must see film..... La Haine (Hatred).
Director Mathieu Kassovitz was just 26 years old when he made this in 1995 with relatively unknown cast at the time. Its raw, angry and was a move away from the typical bourgeois imagery seen in french cinema at the time. It opened French eyes to the rage on the housing estates of the country’s banlieues (Suburbs).
