The station provides a free radio and ward visiting service to patients in Sunderland hospitals.
Established to aid in the relief of sickness and infirmity.

Established in 1953, Radio Sunderland for Hospitals is a self-supporting organisation staffed entirely by unpaid volunteers.
It is through the generous support of local associations, companies and individuals that we have been able to operate for so long.
Our aim is to make life a little more bearable and provide some relief to a patient’s often-stressful stay in hospital with our broadcasting and ward visiting service. We provide a wide variety of programmes including music, feature programmes, news, information and sport - 24 hours a day!
Anyone can be a volunteer as long as they are at least 16 (no upper age limit). No experience is required as full training is given
