Rainy City Roller Derby

We didn’t quite make it to Champs this weekend, thanks to a closely fought loss to Angel City in the deciding game. That said, we played the best Derby we have ever played, had some incredible games and found a new dimension together as a team. Thanks to our amazing opponents: Helsinki (at least in our top 2 favourite teams from Helsinki), Arch Rival (hello hydra?) and Angel (you will haunt our dreams) Thank you to all our All Stars, our fans, the amazing rack of glorious Rainy officials at the event, our skaters, officials and volunteers back at home, our incredible photographer Anja Wettergren, and everyone that has supported us. 2019 is going to be a smoking hot year!

We've had a lot of games against Helsinki over the past couple of years and this was by far the toughest. After we picked up an early lead they constantly pressed and pecked away at the score, closing it down point by point. They played a super powerful game and incredibly clean, with only one jammer penalty in the game. We were tested to our limits, but by playing together and believing in our game plan we found something to raise in the last few jams to help us rise above ...and get across the line.
