Beautifully kept steam locomotive taking the train on a journey first by the tidal estuary, then through lovely countryside with a pub at the end. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

Wonderful experience. Lovely scenery and choice of enclosed and open carriages. Steam and diesel locomotives and fun for all.

This was a great day out and made a pleasant change going on smaller trains than the full size ones. We left Ravenglass on a diesel engine and returned on a steam engine. At Eskdale you can stop and have something to eat either at the station or at one of the pubs. While you are stopped there you really must walk down the road to the little water mill its a real treasure and the volunteers and a wealth of information and full of enthusiasm and friendliness. When we went it was a fine but chilly day so went up the track in the open carriage and enjoyed the views and took loads of photos, on the way back we rode in the enclosed carriage cosy and loads of fun, and the smell of the Steam really takes you back to a time gone by

Worth the long journey. Absolutely brilliant scenery, worth every penny. The weather was sunny and clear. I would advise check the forecast before booking seats. You won't be disappointed.

By far my favourite preserved railway. The Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway (or Ratty as it's known) winds its way from the coast at Ravenglass seven miles inland. On its way it will whisk you past an estuary, along the bottom of Muncaster Fell and through beautiful woodland. There are playgrounds for children at both ends of the line, which is useful for letting off a bit of energy after sitting on the train for the 40min ride. The are also excellent cafes at both ends as well as a new museum at Ravenglass which is a big improvement over the old one. For those in the area for walking there's even a book written by Wainwright called "Walks from Ratty" written especially for the railway.

Great bacon sandwich, great big slices of cake all you need to start the day, train ride is great been several times, also great fish and chips at the end of the line.

Journey from end to end is about 40 minutes. The ride offers excellent views. It is very reasonably priced (at the time of purchase £13 per adult). The train offers open top carriages and also closed top carriages. The open top ones have wooden seating which makes you bum go numb! I recommend taking something to sit on. The closed carriages have padding seating. Well worth the trip out of the way to ravenglass.

Lovely day out on laal ratty . Steam and diesel trains run every day and is a lovely trip to take. Allow time for a look around. Kids love this but adults seem to love it more. Can be busy on bank hols but plenty of seats available.

Brilliant place to visit. We were playing football in the park and came down to have some of the best ice-cream we have ever had. I was a bit too old for the train journey but I enjoyed watching the trains come and go. Breakfast at the cafe was gorgeous as well. I will hopefully stop again next time I go to the Lake District.
