Britain's shadowy, top tier counter-terror unit sprung into action during the dastardly van and knife attack on civilians in London on Saturday night. The arrival of a usually very shy unmarked blue and white AS365N3 Dolphin helicopter couldn't have taken on a higher-profile, as the commando-laden chopper touched down right on London Bridge shortly after the mayhem had ended. Although it is very likely the unit, and the unique helicopters that service it, have been involved in other operations since it began to enter into the public's view a couple of years ago, it seems that this is the first time their presence at the scene of such an tragedy was made overtly clear. #RDM

British intelligence agencies were involved in the torture and kidnap of terrorism suspects after 9/11, according to two reports by the parliamentary intelligence and security committee.
The reports published on Thursday amount to one of the most damning indictments of UK intelligence, revealing links to torture and rendition were much more widespread than previously reported.
While there was no evidence of officers directly carrying out physical mistreatment of detainees, th...e reports say the overseas agency MI6 and the domestic service MI5 were involved in hundreds of torture cases and scores of rendition cases.
The committee says the agencies were aware “at an early point” of the mistreatment of detainees by the US and others. There were two cases in which UK personnel were “party to mistreatment administered by others”. One has been investigated by the Metropolitan police but the other is still to be fully investigated. #RDM

#RDM Several people were killed and about 30 injured after a vehicle drove into a crowd in the western German city of Münster on Saturday, police said.
A police spokeswoman said there were “several dead”, with the driver thought to be among them.
... It was not clear whether the incident was an attack, police said, but a security source said that scenario could not be ruled out.
The German newspaper Bild reported that three people had died in the incident.
The incident evoked memories of a December 2016 truck attack in Berlin that killed 12 people.
Anis Amri, a failed Tunisian asylum seeker with Islamist links, hijacked a truck on 19 December 2016, killed the driver and then drove it into a crowded marketplace, killing 11 other people and injuring dozens of others.

The MI6 officer who had extensive dealings with Sergei Skripal had close links to other exiled Russians, it was claimed yesterday.
Mr Skripal, 66, met one of his former MI6 handlers every month in a Salisbury restaurant. The pair were said to have spoken in English and Russian in the Côte Brasserie, raising the question of whether Mr Skripal, who was jailed for passing Russian secrets to MI6 but later given refuge in the UK in a spy swap, was involved in active intelligence work. #RDM

The handler was said to have had close links to Boris Berezovsky, the billionaire given asylum in Britain who was found dead. #RDM
